| 1吾主上主叫我看见这事：割完君王的青草，当晚草初生时，看，蝗虫出现了。 | 1These things the Lord God shewed to me: and behold the locust was formed in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter rain, and lo, it was the latter rain after the king's mowing. |
| 2当蝗虫要吃光地上的青草时，我就说：「吾主上主，求你饶恕罢！雅各伯还怎能存在？他已这样弱小！」 | 2And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, I said: O Lord God, be merciful, I beseech thee: who shall raise up Jacob, for he is very little? |
| 3上主对这事后悔了。上主说：「这事不会发生。」 | 3The Lord had pity upon this: It shall not be, said the Lord. |
| 4吾主上主叫我看见这事：看，吾主上主召来惩罚的火，烧毁了广大的深渊，又烧毁了上主的基业。 | 4These things the Lord God shewed to me: and behold the Lord called for judgment unto fire, and it devoured the great deep, and ate up a part at the same time. |
| 5我就说：「吾主上主！求你罢休！雅各伯还怎能存在？他已这样弱小！」 | 5And I said: O Lord God, cease, I beseech thee, who shall raise up Jacob, for he is a little one? |
| 6上主对这事后悔了。吾主上主说：「这事也不会发生。」 | 6The Lord had pity upon this. Yea this also shall not be, said the Lord God. |
| 7吾主上主叫我看见这事：看，有一人立在墙上，手中拿着一条铅垂线。 | 7These things the Lord shewed to me: and behold the Lord was standing upon a plastered wall, and in his hand a mason's trowel. |
| 8上主对我说：「亚毛斯，你看见了什么？」我答说：「一条铅垂线。」吾主说：「看，我将铅垂线安置在我民族以色列当中，我不再放过她。 | 8And the Lord said to me: What seest thou, Amos? And I said: A mason's trowel. And the Lord said: Behold, I will lay down the trowel in the midst of my people Israel. I will plaster them over no more. |
| 9依撒格的高丘必要荒芜，以色列的圣所必要废弃；我必起来用刀攻击雅洛贝罕家。」 | 9And the high places of the idol shall be thrown down, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste: and I will rise up against the house of Jeroboam with the sword. |
| 10那时，贝特耳的司祭阿玛责雅派人向以色列王雅洛贝罕说：「亚毛斯在以色列家中图谋背叛你，国家不能再容受他的一切言论， | 10And Amasias the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying: Amos hath rebelled against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words. |
| 11因为亚毛斯这样说：雅洛贝罕必死于刀下，以色列必被掳去充军，远离本土。」 | 11For thus saith Amos: Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall be carried away captive out of their own land. |
| 12事后，阿玛责雅又向亚毛斯说：「先见者，你走罢！赶快到犹大国去，在那里餬口，在那里讲预言。 | 12And Amasias said to Amos: Thou seer, go, flee away into the land of Juda: and eat bread there, and prophesy there. |
| 13在贝特耳不可再讲预言，因为这里是君王的圣所，王国的殿宇。」 | 13But prophesy not again any more in Bethel: because it is the king's sanctuary, and it is the house of the kingdom. |
| 14亚毛斯回答阿玛责雅说：「我原不是先知，也不是先知的弟子，只是一个放羊兼修剪野无花果的人。 | 14And Amos answered and said to Amasias: I am not a prophet, nor am I the son of a prophet: but I am a herdsman plucking wild figs. |
| 15但是，上主正在我赶羊时提了我来。上主对我说：你去向我的百姓以色列讲预言罢！ | 15And the Lord took me when I followed the flock, and the Lord said to me: Go, prophesy to my people Israel. |
| 16现今，你且听上主说什么。你说：不要讲预言攻击以色列，不要发言反对依撒格家！ | 16And now hear thou the word of the Lord: Thou sayest, thou shalt not prophesy against Israel, and thou shalt not drop thy word upon the house of the idol. |
| 17为此，上主这样说：你的妻子必在城中卖淫，你的子女必丧身刀下，你的田地必被人以绳墨瓜分，你自己必死在不洁之地，以色列必被掳去充军，远离本土。」 | 17Therefore thus saith the Lord: Thy wife shall play the harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be measured by a line: and thou shalt die in a polluted land, and Israel shall go into captivity out of their land. |
