| 1全能的上主，以色列的天主！忧伤的灵魂和苦恼的心灵正在向你呼号： | 1And now, O Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, the soul in anguish, and the troubled spirit crieth to thee: |
| 2上主！求你俯听垂怜，因为你是仁慈的天主；求你垂怜，因我们得罪了你。 | 2Hear, O Lord, and have mercy, for thou art a merciful God, and have pity on us: for we have sinned before thee. |
| 3你永居王位，而我们却要永远丧亡。 | 3For thou remainest for ever, and shall we perish everlastingly? |
| 4全能的上主，以色列的天主！求你俯听垂死的以色列人，和犯罪得罪了你的人的子孙的祈祷：他们没有听从你，他们天主的声音，因此灾祸便缠绕我们。 | 4O Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, hear now the prayer of the dead of Israel, and of their children, that have sinned before thee, and have not hearkened to the voice of the Lord their God, wherefore evils have cleaved fast to us. |
| 5求你不再记忆我们祖先的不义，求你在此时只忆及你的威能和你的圣名， | 5Remember not the iniquities of our fathers, but think upon thy hand, and upon thy name at this time: |
| 6因为你是上主，我们的天主，我们要赞颂你，上主！ | 6For thou art the Lord our God, and we will praise thee, O Lord: |
| 7你使我们存心敬畏你，正是为叫我们称呼你的名号；如今我们就在流徙之地赞颂你，从心里离弃我们的祖先在你前所犯的一切不义。 | 7Because for this end thou hast put thy fear in our hearts, to the intent that we should call upon thy name, and praise thee in our captivity, for we are converted from the iniquity of our fathers, who sinned before thee. |
| 8看，我们今天仍在你叫我们流徙所到的充军地，饱受诅咒凌辱，为补赎我们祖先的一切不义，因为他们离弃了上主，我们的天主。 | 8And behold we are at this day in our captivity, whereby thou hast scattered us to be a reproach, and a curse, and an offence, according to all the iniquities of our fathers, who departed from thee, O Lord our God. |
| 9null | 9Hear, O Israel, the commandments of life: give ear, that thou mayst learn wisdom. |
| 10以色列，请听取生命的规律，请侧耳领会智慧。 | 10How happeneth it, O Israel, that thou art in thy enemies' land? |
| 11以色列！这是什么事呢？怎么你竟住在敌人的国内，在异地衰老， | 11Thou art grown old in a strange country, thou art defiled with the dead: thou art counted with them that go down into hell. |
| 12与亡者同污，与降入阴府的人同列呢？ | 12Thou hast forsaken the fountain of wisdom: |
| 13这是因为你离弃了智慧的泉源。 | 13For if thou hadst walked in the way of God, thou hadst surely dwelt in peace for ever. |
| 14倘若你走天主的道路，你必永远处于平安之中。 | 14Learn where is wisdom, where is strength, where is understanding: that thou mayst know also where is length of days and life, where is the light of the eyes, and peace. |
| 15你应学习智慧的所在，力量的所在，聪明的所在；这样，你也能知道长寿和生命的所在，眼的光明和平安的所在。 | 15Who hath found out her place? and who hath gone in to her treasures? |
| 16谁找到了智慧的处所？谁进入了智慧的宝库？ | 16Where are the princes of the nations, and they that rule over the beasts that are upon the earth? |
| 17治理人民和驯服地上走兽的人，在那里呢？ | 17That take their diversion with the birds of the air. |
| 18玩弄空中的飞鸟和积蓄人依恃的金银而贪得无厌的人，在那里呢？ | 18That hoard up silver and gold, wherein men trust, and there is no end of their getting? who work in silver and are solicitous, and their works are unsearchable. |
| 19专心致志铸造银器，使自己的作品无奇不有的人，在那里呢？ | 19They are cut off, and are gone down to hell, and others are risen up in their place. |
| 20他们都不见了，降入了阴府；已另有人起来代替了他们。 | 20Young men have seen the light, and dwelt upon the earth: but the way of knowledge they have not known, |
| 21年轻的一代一生在世上，就住在地上；但他们仍不认识智慧的道路， | 21Nor have they understood the paths thereof, neither have their children received it, it is far from their face. |
| 22仍不知道智慧的途径，连他们的子孙，也没有得到她，因为他们离她的道路很远。 | 22It hath not been heard of in the land of Chanaan, neither hath it been seen in Theman. |
| 23在客纳罕没有人听说过她，在特曼没有人看见过她， | 23The children of Agar also, that search after the wisdom that is of the earth, the merchants of Merrha, and of Theman, and the tellers of fables, and searchers of prudence and understanding: but the way of wisdom they have not known, neither have they remembered her paths. |
| 24连在地上寻求明智的哈加尔的子孙，以及讲说寓言并寻求明智的米德杨和特玛商人，也不认识智慧的道路，不提及她的途径。 | 24O Israel, how great is the house of God, and how vast is the place of his possession! |
| 25以色列天主的住所多么广大，他的领域多么宽阔！ | 25It is great, and hath no end: it is high and immense. |
| 26真是广大无边，高远无垠。 | 26There were the giants, those renowned men that were from the beginning, of great stature, expert in war. |
| 27在那里曾出生过自古有名，身材魁梧和勇敢善战的巨人， | 27The Lord chose not them, neither did they find the way of knowledge: therefore did they perish. |
| 28天主却没有拣选他们，没有指示给他们智慧的道路； | 28And because they had not wisdom, they perished through their folly. |
| 29他们灭亡了，因为没有智慧；他们灭亡了，因为他们昏愚。 | 29Who hath gone up into heaven, and taken her, and brought her down from the clouds? |
| 30谁曾上到天上，取得智慧，使她从云中降下？ | 30Who hath passed over the sea, and found her, and brought her preferably to chosen gold? |
| 31谁曾横渡海洋，寻获智慧，用纯金购买了她呢？ | 31There is none that is able to know her ways, nor that can search out her paths: |
| 32没有人认识她的道路，没有人探得她的途径。 | 32But he that knoweth all things, knoweth her, and hath found her out with his understanding: he that prepared the earth for evermore, and filled it with cattle and fourfooted beasts: |
| 33惟有那全知者认识她，以自己的才智寻获了她，是他永远坚定了大地，使大地充满了牲畜； | 33He that sendeth forth light, and it goeth: and hath called it, and it obeyeth him with trembling. |
| 34是他命闪光发出，闪光即发出；他一召回，即颤栗应命。 | 34And the stars have given light in their watches, and rejoiced: |
| 35星辰各在自己的岗位闪烁，喜形于色； | 35They were called, and they said: Here we are: and with cheerfulness they have shined forth to him that made them. |
| 36他一召唤，随即答说：我们在此！向自己的创造者欣然闪烁。 | 36This is our God, and there shall no other be accounted of in comparison of him. |
| 37他就是我们的天主，没有别的可同他相比； | 37He found out all the way of knowledge, and gave it to Jacob his servant, and to Israel his beloved. |
| 38他寻得了智慧的一切道路，将她赐给了他的仆人雅各伯，和他心爱的以色列； | 38Afterwards he was seen upon earth, and conversed with men. |
| 39从此智慧在地上出现，与世人共相往还。 | 39 |
