¹以色列，请听！你今天就要过约但河，去征服比你强大的民族，广大的城邑和高可摩天的要塞。	¹Hear, O Israel: Thou shalt go over the Jordan this day; to possess nations very great, and stronger than thyself, cities great, and walled up to the sky,
²那高大的民族，即阿纳克的子孙，是你所知道的，论到他们，你曾听说过：『谁能抵抗阿纳克的子孙？』	²A People great and tall, the sons of the Enacims, whom thou hast seen, and heard of, against whom no man is able to stand.
³但你今天应该知道，上主你的天主要如吞灭的火，亲自走在你前面，是他要消灭他们，是他要他们在你面前屈服；这样你才能将他们驱逐，使他们迅速毁灭，一如上主对你所说的。	³Thou shalt know therefore this day that the Lord thy God himself will pass over before thee, a devouring and consuming fire, to destroy and extirpate and bring them to nothing before thy face quickly, as he hath spoken to thee.
⁴当上主你的天主将他们由你面前驱逐以后，你心中不要想：上主领我来占领这地方，是因了我的义德。其实是因这些民族的罪恶，上主才将他们由你面前赶走。	⁴Say not in thy heart, when the Lord thy God shall have destroyed them in thy sight: For my justice hath the Lord brought me in to possess this land, whereas these nations are destroyed for their wickedness.
⁵你能去占领他们的土地，并不是因了你的义德，也不是因了你心地正直，而实是因这些民族的罪恶，上主你的天主才将他们由你面前赶走；同时也是为实践上主向你祖先亚巴郎、依撒格和雅各伯起誓所许的诺言。	⁵For it is not for thy justices, and the uprightness of thy heart that thou shalt go in to possess their lands: but because they have done wickedly, they are destroyed at thy coming in: and that the Lord might accomplish his word, which he promised by oath to thy fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
⁶由此可知，上主你的天主，把这肥美的土地赐给你作产业，并不是因了你的义德，因为你原是一个执拗的民族。	⁶Know therefore that the Lord thy God giveth thee not this excellent land in possession for thy justices, for thou art a very stiffnecked people.
⁷你当记念不忘：你在旷野里怎样激怒了上主你的天主。自从你由埃及地出来的那天起，直到你们来到这地方，你们常是反抗上主。	⁷Remember, and forget not how then provokedst the Lord thy God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that thou camest out of Egypt unto this place, thou hast always strove against the Lord.
⁸你们在曷勒布激怒了上主，致使上主对你们发怒，几乎将你们消灭。	⁸For in Horeb also thou didst provoke him, and he was angry, and would have destroyed thee,
⁹那时我上了山，要接受石版，就是上主与你们结约的石版，我在山上住了四十天四十夜，不吃不喝；	⁹When I went up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, the tables of the covenant which the Lord made with you: and I continued in the mount forty days and nights, neither eating bread, nor drinking water.
¹⁰上主交给了我两块天主用手指写上字的石版。上面所写的，是上主于集会之日，在山上由火中对你们所说的一切话。	¹⁰And the Lord gave me two tables of stone written with the finger of God, and containing all the words that he spoke to you in the mount from the midst of the fire, when the people were assembled together.
¹¹过了四十天四十夜，天主交给了我那两块石版、即约版，	¹¹And when forty days were passed, and as many nights, the Lord gave me the two tables of stone, the tables of the covenant,
¹²然后对我说：『起来，赶快下去，因为你由埃及领出来的人民已败坏了，他们很快就离弃了我给他们指定的道路，为自己铸造了偶像。』	¹²And said to me: Arise, and go down from hence quickly: for thy people, which thou hast brought out of Egypt, have quickly forsaken the way that thou hast shewn them, and have made to themselves a molten idol.
¹³上主又对我说：『我看这民族，确是一个执拗的民族。	¹³And again the Lord said to me: I see that this people is stiffnecked:
¹⁴你且由着我罢！我要消灭他们，由天下抹去他们的名字；我要使你成为一个比他们更大更多的民族。』	¹⁴Let me alone that I may destroy them, and abolish their name from under heaven, and set thee over a nation, that is greater and stronger than this.
¹⁵我于是转身，从冒火的山上下来，手中拿着两块约版。	¹⁵And when I came down from the burning mount, and held the two tables of the covenant with both hands,
¹⁶我一看见你们铸造了牛犊，犯罪背叛了上主你们的天主，迅速离弃了上主给你们指定的道路，	¹⁶And saw that you had sinned against the Lord your God, and had made to yourselves a molten calf, and had quickly forsaken his way, which he had shewn you:
¹⁷我就把那两块石版，由我手中扔下去，在你们眼前摔得粉碎。	¹⁷I cast the tables out of my hands, and broke them in your sight.
¹⁸为了你们所犯的一切罪过，作了上主眼中视为恶的事，使他恼怒，我就像上次一样，俯伏在上主面前，四十天四十夜不吃不喝。	¹⁸And I fell down before the Lord as before, forty days and nights neither eating bread, nor drinking water, for all your sins, which you had committed against the Lord, and had provoked him to wrath:
¹⁹因为上主对你们大发忿怒，要消灭你们，我实在恐惧不安；但上主这次又俯听了我。	¹⁹For I feared his indignation and anger, wherewith being moved against you, he would have destroyed you. And the Lord heard me this time also.
²⁰同样，上主对亚郎也大发忿怒，要消灭他；那时我也为亚郎祈求过。	²⁰And he was exceeding angry against Aaron also, and would have destroyed him, and I prayed in like manner for him.
²¹我把你们犯罪所铸造的牛犊，放在火里烧了；然后捣碎，磨成细末，将细末抛在由山上流下来的溪水内。	²¹And your sin that you had committed, that is, the calf, I took, and burned it with fire, and breaking it into pieces, until it was as small as dust, I threw it into the torrent, which cometh down from the mountain.
²²以后，你们在塔贝辣、玛撒、克贝洛特阿塔瓦又激怒了上主。	²²At the burning also, and at the place of temptation, and at the graves of lust you provoked the Lord:
²³当上主命你们由卡德士巴尔乃亚起程，说：『你们上去占领我赐给你们的地方。』你们又违背了上主你们天主的命令，没有信赖他，也没有听他的命。	²³And when he sent you from Cadesbarne, saying: Go up, and possess the land that I have given you, and you slighted the commandment of the Lord your God, and did not believe him, neither would you hearken to his voice:
²⁴自从我认识你们那天起，你们常是背叛上主。	²⁴But were always rebellious from the day that I began to know you.
²⁵因为上主决意要消灭你们，我就四十天四十夜俯伏在上主面前，	²⁵And I lay prostrate before the Lord forty days and nights, in which I humbly besought him, that he would not destroy you as he had threatened:
²⁶哀求上主说：『吾主上主！不要消灭你的百姓，你的产业，因为是你以大能救出来的，是你以强力的手由埃及领出来的，	²⁶And praying, I said: O Lord God, destroy not thy people, and thy inheritance, which thou hast redeemed in thy greatness, whom thou hast brought out of Egypt with a strong hand.
²⁷求你记念你的仆人亚巴郎、依撒格和雅各伯，别看这民族的顽固、邪恶和罪过，	²⁷Remember thy servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: look not on the stubbornness of this people, nor on their wickedness and sin:
²⁸免得你领我们出来的那地方的人说：这是由于上主不能领他们进入所许给他们的地方，又由于恨他们才领他们出来，叫他们死在旷野。	²⁸Lest perhaps the inhabitants of the land, out of which thou hast brought us, say: The Lord could not bring them into the land that he promised them, and he hated them: therefore he brought them out, that he might kill them in the wilderness,
²⁹他们毕竟是你的百姓，是你的产业，是你以大能和伸开的手臂领出来的。	²⁹Who are thy people and thy inheritance, whom thou hast brought out by thy great strength, and in thy stretched out arm.
