| 1所以我这在主内为囚犯的恳求你们，行动务要与你们所受的宠召相称， | 1I therefore, a prisoner in the Lord, beseech you that you walk worthy of the vocation in which you are called, |
| 2凡事要谦逊、温和、忍耐，在爱德中彼此担待， | 2With all humility and mildness, with patience, supporting one another in charity. |
| 3尽力以和平的联系，保持心神的合一， | 3Careful to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. |
| 4因为只有一个身体和一个圣神，正如你们蒙召，同有一个希望一样。 | 4One body and one Spirit; as you are called in one hope of your calling. |
| 5只有一个主，一个信德，一个洗礼； | 5One Lord, one faith, one baptism. |
| 6只有一个天主和众人之父，他超越众人，贯通众人，且在众人之内。 | 6One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in us all. |
| 7但我们各人所领受的恩宠，却是按照基督赐恩的尺度。 | 7But to every one of us is given grace, according to the measure of the giving of Christ. |
| 8为此经上说：「他带领俘虏，升上高天，且把恩惠赐与人。」 | 8Wherefore he saith: Ascending on high, he led captivity captive; he gave gifts to men. |
| 9说他上升了，岂不是说他曾下降到地下吗？ | 9Now that he ascended, what is it, but because he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? |
| 10那下降的，正是上升超乎诸天之上，以充满万有的那一位， | 10He that descended is the same also that ascended above all the heavens, that he might fill all things. |
| 11就是他赐与这些人作宗徒，那些人作先知，有的作传福音者，有的作司牧和教师， | 11And he gave some apostles, and some prophets, and other some evangelists, and other some pastors and doctors, |
| 12为成全圣徒，使之各尽其职；为建树基督的身体， | 12For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: |
| 13直到我们众人都达到对于天主子，有一致的信仰和认识，成为成年人，达到基督圆满年龄的程度； | 13Until we all meet into the unity of faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the age of the fulness of Christ; |
| 14使我们不再做小孩子，为各种教义之风所飘荡，所卷去，而中了人的阴谋，陷于引入荒谬的诡计； | 14That henceforth we be no more children tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the wickedness of men, by cunning craftiness, by which they lie in wait to deceive. |
| 15反而在爱德中持守真理，在各方面长进，而归于那为元首的基督， | 15But doing the truth in charity, we may in all things grow up in him who is the head, even Christ: |
| 16本着他，全身都结构紧凑，藉着各关节的互相补助，按照各肢体的功用，各尽其职，使身体不断增长，在爱德中将它建立起来。 | 16From whom the whole body, being compacted and fitly joined together, by what every joint supplieth, according to the operation in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body, unto the edifying of itself in charity. |
| 17为此我说，且在主内苦劝你们，生活不要再像外邦人，顺随自己的虚妄思念而生活； | 17This then I say and testify in the Lord: That henceforward you walk not as also the Gentiles walk in the vanity of their mind, |
| 18他们的理智受了蒙蔽，因着他们的无知和固执，与天主的生命隔绝了。 | 18Having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their hearts. |
| 19这样的人既已麻木，便纵情恣欲，贪行各种不洁。 | 19Who despairing, have given themselves up to lasciviousness, unto the working of all uncleanness, unto the working of all uncleanness, unto covetousness. |
| 20但你们却不是这样学了基督。 | 20But you have not so learned Christ; |
| 21如果你们真听过他，按照在耶稣内的真理，在他内受过教， | 21If so be that you have heard him, and have been taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus: |
| 22就该脱去你们照从前生活的旧人，就是因顺从享乐的欲念而败坏的旧人， | 22To put off, according to former conversation, the old man, who is corrupted according to the desire of error. |
| 23应在心思念虑上改换一新， | 23And be renewed in the spirit of your mind: |
| 24穿上新人，就是按照天主的肖像所造，具有真实的正义和圣善的新人。 | 24And put on the new man, who according to God is created in justice and holiness of truth. |
| 25为此，你们应该戒绝谎言，彼此应该说实话，因为我们彼此都是一身的肢体。 | 25Wherefore putting away lying, speak; ye the truth every man with his neighbour; for we are members one of another. |
| 26「你们纵然动怒，但是不可犯罪」；不可让太阳在你们含怒时西落， | 26Be angry, and sin not. Let not the sun go down upon your anger. |
| 27也不可给魔鬼留有余地。 | 27Give not place to the devil. |
| 28那以前偷窃的，不要再偷窃，却更要劳苦，亲手赚取正当的利润，好能赒济贫乏的人。 | 28He that stole, let him now steal no more; but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have something to give to him that suffereth need. |
| 29一切坏话都不可出于你们的口；但看事情的需要，说造就人的话，叫听众获得益处。 | 29Let no evil speech proceed from your mouth; but that which is good, to the edification of faith, that it may administer grace to the hearers. |
| 30你们不要叫天主的圣神忧郁，因为你们是在他内受了印证，以待得救的日子。 | 30And grieve not the holy Spirit of God: whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption. |
| 31一切毒辣、怨恨、忿怒、争吵、毁谤以及一切邪恶，都要从你们中除掉； | 31Let all bitterness, and anger, and indignation, and clamour, and blasphemy, be put away from you, with all malice. |
| 32彼此相待，要良善，要仁慈，互相宽恕，如同天主在基督内宽恕了你们一样。 | 32And be ye kind one to another; merciful, forgiving one another, even as God hath forgiven you in Christ. |
