| 1以色列子民全会众按照上主的吩咐，由欣旷野起程，一站一站地前行，然后在勒非丁安了营。在那里百姓没有水喝， | 1Then all the multitude of the children of Israel setting forward from the desert of Sin, by their mansions, according to the word of the Lord, encamped in Raphidim, where there was no water for the people to drink. |
| 2因此百姓与梅瑟争吵说：「给我们水喝罢！」梅瑟回答他们说：「你们为什么与我争吵，为什么试探上主？」 | 2And they chode with Moses, and said: Give us water, that we may drink. And Moses answered them: Why chide you with me? Wherefore do you tempt the Lord? |
| 3因百姓在那里渴望水喝，就抱怨梅瑟说：「你为什么从埃及领我们上来？难道要使我们，我们的子女和牲畜都渴死吗？」 | 3So the people were thirsty there for want of water, and murmured against Moses, saying: Why didst thou make us go forth out of Egypt, to kill us and our children, and our beasts with thirst? |
| 4梅瑟向上主呼号说：「我要怎样对待这百姓呢？他们几乎愿用石头砸死我！」 | 4And Moses cried to the Lord, saying: What shall I do to this people? Yet a little more and they will stone me. |
| 5上主回答梅瑟说：「你到百姓面前去，带上几个以色列长老，手中拿着你击打尼罗河的棍杖去！ | 5And the Lord said to Moses: Go before the people, and take with thee of the ancients of Israel: and take in thy hand the rod wherewith thou didst strike the river, and go. |
| 6看，我要在你面前站在曷勒布那里的磐石上，你击打磐石，就有水流出来，给百姓喝。」梅瑟就在以色列的长老眼前照样作了。 | 6Behold I will stand there before thee, upon the rock Horeb: and thou shalt strike the rock, and water shall come out of it that the people may drink. Moses did so before the ancients of Israel: |
| 7他称那地方为玛撒和默黎巴，因为以色列子民在那里争吵过，并试探过上主说：「上主是否在我们中间？」 | 7And he called the name of that place Temptation, because the chiding of the children of Israel, and for that they tempted the Lord, saying: Is the Lord amongst us or not? |
| 8那时有阿玛肋克人，来在勒非丁同以色列人作战。 | 8And Amalec came, and fought against Israel in Raphidim. |
| 9梅瑟向若苏厄说：「你给我们选拔壮丁，明天去同阿玛肋克作战，我手中拿着天主的棍杖，站在这高冈顶上。」 | 9And Moses said to Josue: Choose out men: and go out and fight against Amalec: tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill having the rod of God in my hand. |
| 10若苏厄就照梅瑟吩咐他的作了，去同阿玛肋克作战；同时梅瑟、亚郎和胡尔上了那高冈顶上。 | 10Josue did as Moses had spoken, and he fought against Amalec; but Moses, and Aaron, and Hur went up upon the top of the hill. |
| 11当梅瑟举手的时候，以色列就打胜仗；放下手的时候，阿玛肋克就打胜仗。 | 11And when Moses lifted up his hands, Israel overcame: but if he let them down a little, Amalec overcame. |
| 12终于梅瑟的手举疲乏了。他们就搬了块石头来，放在他下边，叫他坐下，亚郎和胡尔，一边一个托着他的手：这样他的手举著不动，直到日落的时候。 | 12And Moses' hands were heavy: so they took a stone, and put under him, and he sat on it: and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands on both sides. And it came to pass that his hands were not weary until sunset. |
| 13于是若苏厄用刀剑打败了阿玛肋克和他的人民。 | 13And Josue put Amalec and his people to flight, by the edge of the sword. |
| 14上主向梅瑟说：「将这事写在书上作为记念，并训示若苏厄，我要从天下把阿玛肋克的记念完全消灭。」 | 14And the Lord said to Moses: Write this for a memorial in a book, and deliver it to the ears of Josue: for I will destroy the memory of Amalec from under heaven. |
| 15梅瑟筑了一座祭坛，给它起名叫「雅威尼息」， | 15And Moses built an altar: and called the name thereof, The Lord my exaltation, saying: |
| 16说：「向上主的旌旗举手，上主必世世代代与阿玛肋克作战。」 | 16Because the hand of the throne of the Lord, and the war of the Lord shall be against Amalec, from generation to generation. |
