¹依撒格叫了雅各伯来，祝福他，吩咐他说：「你不要娶客纳罕女人为妻。	¹And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, saying: Take not a wife of the stock of Chanaan:
²你应起身往帕丹阿兰你外祖父贝突耳家去，在那里娶你舅父拉班的女儿为妻。	²But go, and take a journey to Mesopotamia of Syria, to the house of Bathuel thy mother's father, and take thee a wife thence of the daughters of Laban thy uncle.
³愿全能的天主祝福你，使你生育繁殖，成为一大家族。	³And God almighty bless thee, and make thee to increase, and multiply thee: that thou mayst be a multitude of people.
⁴愿天主将亚巴郎的祝福赐与你和你的后裔，使你承受你所住的地方，即天主赐与亚巴郎的土地作为产业。」	⁴And give the blessings of Abraham to thee, and to thy seed after thee: that thou mayst possess the land of thy sojournment, which he promised to thy grandfather.
⁵依撒格就这样打发了雅各伯往帕丹阿兰，投往阿兰人贝突耳的儿子拉班，即雅各伯和厄撒乌的母亲黎贝加的哥哥那里去了。	⁵And when Isaac had sent him away, he took his journey and went to Mesopotamia of Syria to Laban the son of Bathuel the Syrian, brother to Rebecca his mother.
⁶厄撒乌见依撒格祝福了雅各伯，打发他到帕丹阿兰去，在那里娶妻；祝福他时还吩咐他说：「不要娶客纳罕女人为妻。」	⁶And Esau seeing that his father had blessed Jacob, and had sent him into Mesopotamia of Syria, to marry a wife thence; and that after the blessing he had charged him, saying: Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Chanaan:
⁷厄撒乌见雅各伯听从父母的命，往帕丹阿兰去了，	⁷And that Jacob obeying his parents was gone into Syria:
⁸便明白父亲依撒格不喜欢客纳罕女子。	⁸Experiencing also that his father was not well pleased with the daughters of Chanaan:
⁹所以他去了依市玛耳那里，除自己所有的两个妻子外，又娶了亚巴郎之子依市玛耳的女儿乃巴约特的妹妹玛哈拉特为妻。	⁹He went to Ismael, and took to wife, besides them he had before, Maheleth the daughter of Ismael, Abraham's son, the sister of Nabajoth.
¹⁰雅各伯离开贝尔舍巴，往哈兰去了。	¹⁰But Jacob being departed from Bersabee, went on to Haran.
¹¹他来到一个地方，因太阳已落，就在那里过宿，随地拿了一块石头，放在头底下，就在那地方躺下睡了。	¹¹And when he was come to a certain place, and would rest in it after sunset, he took of the stones that lay there, and putting under his head, slept in the same place.
¹²他作了一梦：见一个梯子直立在地上，梯顶与天相接；天主的使者在梯子上，上去下来。	¹²And he saw in his sleep a ladder standing upon the earth, and the top thereof touching heaven: the angels also of God ascending and descending by it;
¹³上主立在梯子上说：「我是上主，你父亚巴郎的天主，依撒格的天主。我要将你所躺的地方，赐给你和你的后裔。	¹³And the Lord leaning upon the ladder, saying to him: I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac; the land, wherein thou sleepest, I will give to thee and to thy seed.
¹⁴你的后裔要多得如地上的灰尘；你要向东西南北扩展，地上的万民都要因你和你的后裔蒙受祝福。	¹⁴And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth: thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and IN THEE and thy seed all the tribes of the earth SHALL BE BLESSED.
¹⁵看我与你同在；你不论到那里，我必护佑你，领你回到此地。我决不离弃你，直到我实践了我对你所许的。」	¹⁵And I will be thy keeper whithersoever thou goest, and will bring thee back into this land: neither will I leave thee, till I shall have accomplished all that I have said.
¹⁶雅各伯一觉醒来，说：「上主实在在这地方，我竟不知道。」	¹⁶And when Jacob awaked out of sleep, he said: Indeed the Lord is in this place, and I knew it not.
¹⁷他又满怀敬畏地说：「这地方多么可畏！这里不是别处，乃是天主的住所，上天之门。」	¹⁷And trembling he said: How terrible is this place! this is no other but the house of God, and the gate of heaven.
¹⁸雅各伯清早一起来，就把那块放在头底下的石头，立作石柱，在顶上倒了油，	¹⁸And Jacob, arising in the morning, took the stone, which he had laid under his head, and set it up for a title, pouring oil upon the top of it.
¹⁹给那地方起名叫贝特耳，原先那城名叫路次。	¹⁹And he called the name of the city Bethel, which before was called Luza.
²⁰然后雅各伯许愿说：「若是天主与我同在，在我所走的路上护佑我，赐我丰衣足食，	²⁰And he made a vow, saying: If God shall be with me, and shall keep me in the way by which I walk, and shall give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,
²¹使我平安回到父家，上主实在当是我的天主。	²¹And I shall return prosperously to my father's house: the Lord shall be my God:
²²我立作石柱的这块石头，必要成为天主的住所；凡你赐与我的，我必给你奉献十分之一。」	²²And this stone, which I have set up for a title, shall be called the house of God: and of all things that thou shalt give to me, I will offer tithes to thee.
