¹雅各伯取道前行，来到了东方人的地方；	¹Then Jacob went on in his journey, and came into the east country.
²举目看见田间有口井，还有三群羊，卧在井旁。──因为人惯常由这井取水饮羊，井口上盖着块大石头；	²And he saw a well in the field, and three flocks of sheep lying by it: for the beasts were watered out of it, and the mouth thereof was closed with a great stone.
³几时羊群都聚集在那里，人就将井口的石头挪开，取水饮羊；然后再将石头盖在井口原处。	³And the custom was, when all the sheep were gathered together to roll away the stone, and after the sheep were watered, to put it on the mouth of the well again.
⁴雅各伯对他们说：「弟兄们，你们是那里的？」他们答说：「我们是哈兰人。」	⁴And he said to the shepherds: Brethren, whence are you? They answered: Of Haran.
⁵雅各伯问他们说：「你们认识纳曷尔的儿子拉班吗？」他们答说：「我们认识。」	⁵And he asked them, saying: Know you Laban the son of Nachor? They said: We know him.
⁶雅各伯又问说：「他好吗？」他们答说：「他好。看，那不是他的女儿辣黑耳领着羊群来了。」	⁶He said: Is he in health? He is in health, say they: and behold Rachel his daughter cometh with his flock.
⁷雅各伯说：「看，太阳还很高，尚不到聚集家畜的时候，你们取水饮了羊，然后再领去牧放。」	⁷And Jacob said: There is yet much day remaining, neither is it time to bring the flocks into the folds again: first give the sheep drink, and so lead them back to feed.
⁸他们回答说：「不能够；因为除非等所有羊群都聚集起来，才可挪开井口的石头，取水饮羊。」	⁸They answered: We cannot, till all the cattle be gathered together, and we remove the stone from the well's mouth, that we may water the flocks.
⁹他还同他们说话的时候，辣黑耳领着他父亲的羊群到了；因为她是个牧羊女。	⁹They were yet speaking, and behold Rachel came with her father's sheep: for she fed the flock.
¹⁰雅各伯一见了舅父拉班的女儿辣黑耳，和舅父拉班的羊群，就上前去，挪开井口的石头，取水饮他舅父拉班的羊。	¹⁰And when Jacob saw her, and knew her to be his cousin-german, and that they were the sheep of Laban, his uncle: he removed the stone wherewith the well was closed.
¹¹然后雅各伯口亲辣黑耳，放声大哭，	¹¹And having watered the flock, he kissed her: and lifting up his voice, wept.
¹²告诉辣黑耳，自己是她父亲的外甥，黎贝加的儿子。辣黑耳便跑回去，告诉她父亲。	¹²And he told her that he was her father's brother, and the son of Rebecca: but she went in haste and told her father.
¹³拉班一听得了关于他外甥雅各伯的消息，就跑来迎接他，抱住他，亲他，领他到自己的家中。雅各伯遂将所遇的事全告诉了拉班。	¹³Who, when he heard that Jacob his sister's son was come, ran forth to meet him; and embracing him, and heartily kissing him, brought him into his house. And when he had heard the causes of his journey,
¹⁴拉班对他说：「你实在是我的骨肉。」雅各伯遂同他住下了。过了一月，	¹⁴He answered: Thou art my bone and my flesh. And after the days of one month were expired,
¹⁵拉班对雅各伯说：「岂可因为你是我的外甥，就该白白服事我？告诉我，你要什么报酬？」	¹⁵He said to him: Because thou art my brother, shalt thou serve me without wages? Tell me what wages thou wilt have.
¹⁶拉班有两个女儿：大的名叫肋阿，小的名叫辣黑耳。	¹⁶Now he had two daughters, the name of the elder was Lia: and the younger was called Rachel.
¹⁷肋阿双眼无神；辣黑耳却相貌美丽；	¹⁷But Lia was blear eyed: Rachel was well favoured, and of a beautiful countenance.
¹⁸为此雅各伯喜爱辣黑耳，遂回答说：「我愿为你小女儿辣黑耳服事你七年。」	¹⁸And Jacob being in love with her, said: I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.
¹⁹拉班答说：「我将她给你，比给外人好；你就同我住下。」	¹⁹Laban answered: It is better that I give her to thee than to another man; stay with me.
²⁰这样，雅各伯为得到辣黑耳，服事了拉班七年；由于他喜爱这少女，看七年好像几天。	²⁰So Jacob served seven years for Rachel: and they seemed but a few days, because of the greatness of his love.
²¹雅各伯遂对拉班说：「期限已满，请将我的妻子给我，我好与他亲近。」	²¹And he said to Laban: Give me my wife; for now the time is fulfilled, that I may go in unto her.
²²拉班也请了当地所有的人士，摆了婚宴。	²²And he, having invited a great number of his friends to the feast, made the marriage.
²³到了晚上，他却将自己的女儿肋阿，引到雅各伯前，雅各伯就亲近了她。──	²³And at night he brought in Lia his daughter to him,
²⁴拉班且将自己的婢女齐耳帕给了女儿肋阿作婢女。──	²⁴Giving his daughter a handmaid, named Zelpha. Now when Jacob had gone in to her according to custom when morning was come he saw it was Lia:
²⁵到了早晨，他一见是肋阿，便对拉班说：「你对我作的是什么事？我服事你，岂不是为了辣黑耳？你为什么欺骗我？」	²⁵And he said to his father in law: What is it that thou didst mean to do? did not I serve thee for Rachel? why hast thou deceived me?
²⁶拉班回答说：「我们这地方没有先嫁幼女，而后嫁长女的风俗。	²⁶Laban answered: It is not the custom in this place, to give the younger in marriage first.
²⁷你同长女满了七天以后，我也将幼女给你，只要你再服事我七年。」	²⁷Make up the week of days of this match: and I will give thee her also, for the service that thou shalt render me other seven years.
²⁸雅各伯就这样做了。与肋阿满了七天以后，拉班便将自己的女儿辣黑耳给了他为妻。──	²⁸He yielded to his pleasure: and after the week was past, he married Rachel:
²⁹拉班且将自己的婢女彼耳哈给了女儿辣黑耳作婢女。──	²⁹To whom her father gave Bala for her servant.
³⁰雅各伯也亲近了辣黑耳，而且他爱辣黑耳甚于肋阿；于是又服事了拉班七年。	³⁰And having at length obtained the marriage he wished for, he preferred the love of the latter before the former, and served with him other seven years.
³¹上主见肋阿失宠，便开了她的胎；但辣黑耳却荒胎不孕。	³¹And the Lord seeing that he despised Lia, opened her womb, but her sister remained barren.
³²肋阿怀孕生了一子，给他起名叫勒乌本，说：「上主垂视了我的苦衷，现在我的丈夫会爱我了。」	³²And she conceived and bore a son, and called his name Ruben, saying: The Lord saw my affliction: now my husband will love me.
³³她又怀孕生了一子，说：「上主听说我失了宠，又给了我一个。」遂给他起名叫西默盎。	³³And again she conceived and bore a son, and said: Because the Lord heard that I was despised, he hath given this also to me: and she called his name Simeon.
³⁴她又怀孕生了一子，说：「这次，我的丈夫可要恋住我了，因为我已给他生了三个儿子。」遂给他起名叫肋未。	³⁴And she conceived the third time, and bore another son: and said: Now also my husband will be joined to me, because I have borne him three sons: and therefore she called his name Levi.
³⁵她又怀孕生了一子，说：「这次我要赞颂上主。」为此给他起名叫犹大。以后就停止生育。	³⁵The fourth time she conceived and bore a son, and said: now will I praise the Lord: and for this she called him Juda. And she left bearing.
