| 1在上主天主所造的一切野兽中，蛇是最狡猾的。蛇对女人说：「天主真说了，你们不可吃乐园中任何树上的果子吗？」 | 1Now the serpent was more subtle than any of the beasts of the earth which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman: Why hath God commanded you, that you should not eat of every tree of paradise? |
| 2女人对蛇说：「乐园中树上的果子，我们都可吃； | 2And the woman answered him, saying: Of the fruit of the trees that are in paradise we do eat: |
| 3只有乐园中央那棵树上的果子，天主说过，你们不可以吃，也不可摸，免得死亡。」 | 3But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of paradise, God hath commanded us that we should not eat; and that we should not touch it, lest perhaps we die. |
| 4蛇对女人说：「你们决不会死！ | 4And the serpent said to the woman: No, you shall not die the death. |
| 5因为天主知道，你们那天吃了这果子，你们的眼就会开了，将如同天主一样知道善恶。」 | 5For God doth know that in what day soever you shall eat thereof, your eyes shall be opened: and you shall be as Gods, knowing good and evil. |
| 6女人看那棵果树实在好吃好看，令人羨慕，且能增加智慧，遂摘下一个果子吃了，又给了她的男人一个，他也吃了。 | 6And the woman saw that the tree was good to eat, and fair to the eyes, and delightful to behold: and she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave to her husband who did eat. |
| 7于是二人的眼立即开了，发觉自己赤身露体，遂用无花果树叶，编了个裙子围身。 | 7And the eyes of them both were opened: and when they perceived themselves to be naked, they sewed together fig leaves, and made themselves aprons. |
| 8当亚当和他的妻子听见了上主天主趁晚凉在乐园中散步的声音，就躲藏在乐园的树林中，怕见上主天主的面。 | 8And when they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in paradise at the afternoon air, Adam and his wife hid themselves from the face of the Lord God, amidst the trees of paradise. |
| 9上主天主呼唤亚当对他说：「你在那里？」 | 9And the Lord God called Adam, and said to him: Where art thou? |
| 10他答说：「我在乐园中听到了你的声音，就害怕起来，因为我赤身露体，遂躲藏了。」 | 10And he said: I heard thy voice in paradise; and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself. |
| 11天主说：「谁告诉了你，赤身露体？莫非你吃了我禁止你吃的果子？」 | 11And he said to him: And who hath told thee that thou wast naked, but that thou hast eaten of the tree whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldst not eat? |
| 12亚当说：「是你给我作伴的那个女人给了我那树上的果子，我才吃了。」 | 12And Adam said: The woman, whom thou gavest me to be my companion, gave me of the tree, and I did eat. |
| 13上主天主遂对女人说：「你为什么作了这事？」女人答说：「是蛇哄骗了我，我才吃了。」 | 13And the Lord God said to the woman: Why hast thou done this? And she answered: The serpent deceived me, and I did eat. |
| 14上主天主对蛇说：「因你做了这事，你在一切畜牲和野兽中，是可咒骂的；你要用肚子爬行，毕生日日吃土。 | 14And the Lord God said to the serpent: Because thou hast done this thing, thou art cursed among all cattle, and beasts of the earth: upon thy breast shalt thou go, and earth shalt thou eat all the days of thy life. |
| 15我要把仇恨放在你和女人，你的后裔和她的后裔之间，她的后裔要踏碎你的头颅，你要伤害他的脚跟。」 | 15I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel. |
| 16后对女人说：「我要增加你怀孕的苦楚，在痛苦中生子；你要依恋你的丈夫，也要受他的管辖。」 | 16To the woman also he said: I will multiply thy sorrows, and thy conceptions: in sorrow shalt thou bring forth children, and thou shalt be under thy husband's power, and he shall have dominion over thee. |
| 17后对亚当说：「因为你听了你妻子的话，吃了我禁止你吃的果子，为了你的缘故，地成了可咒骂的；你一生日日劳苦才能得到吃食。 | 17And to Adam he said: Because thou hast hearkened to the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldst not eat, cursed is the earth in thy work; with labour and toil shalt thou eat thereof all the days of thy life. |
| 18地要给你生出荆棘和蒺藜，你要吃田间的蔬菜； | 18Thorns and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herbs of the earth. |
| 19你必须汗流满面，才有饭吃，直到你归于土中，因为你是由土来的；你既是灰土，你还要归于灰土。」 | 19In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread till thou return to the earth, out of which thou wast taken: for dust thou art, and into dust thou shalt return. |
| 20亚当给自己的妻子起名叫厄娃，因为她是众生的母亲。 | 20And Adam called the name of his wife Eve: because she was the mother of all the living. |
| 21上主天主为亚当和他的妻子做了件皮衣，给他们穿上； | 21And the Lord God made for Adam and his wife, garments of skins, and clothed them. |
| 22然后上主天主说：「看，人已相似我们中的一个，知道了善恶；如今不要让他伸手再摘取生命树上的果子，吃了活到永远。」 | 22And he said: Behold Adam is become as one of us, knowing good and evil: now, therefore, lest perhaps he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever. |
| 23上主天主遂把他赶出伊甸乐园，叫他耕种他所由出的土地。 | 23And the Lord God sent him out of the paradise of pleasure, to till the earth from which he was taken. |
| 24天主将亚当逐出了以后，就在伊甸乐园的东面，派了「革鲁宾」和刀光四射的火剑，防守到生命树去的路。 | 24And he cast out Adam; and placed before the paradise of pleasure Cherubims, and a flaming sword, turning every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. |
