| 1当以色列尚在童年时，我就爱了他；从在埃及时，我就召叫他为我的儿子。 | 1As the morning passeth, so hath the king of Israel passed away. Because Israel was a child, and I loved him: and I called my son out of Egypt. |
| 2可是我越呼唤他们，他们越远离我，去给巴耳献祭，向偶像进香。 | 2As they called them, they went away from before their face: they offered victims to Baalim, and sacrificed to idols. |
| 3是我教了厄弗辣因迈步，双臂抱着他们，但他们却不理会是我照顾了他们。 | 3And I was like a foster father to Ephraim, I carried them in my arms: and they knew not that I healed them. |
| 4是我用仁慈的绳索，爱情的带子牵着他们，我对他们有如高举婴儿到自己面颊的慈亲，俯身喂养他们。 | 4I will draw them with the cords of Adam, with the bands of love: and I will be to them as one that taketh off the yoke on their jaws: and I put his meat to him that he might eat. |
| 5他们却要返回埃及地，要亚述作他们的君王，因为他们拒绝归依我。 | 5He shall not return into the land of Egypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king: because they would not be converted. |
| 6刀剑必要在他们的城中横行，杀绝他们的子女，在他们的堡垒中吞噬他们。 | 6The sword hath begun in his cities, and it shall consume his chosen men, and shall devour their heads. |
| 7我的百姓因着自己的叛逆使我厌烦了；为此上主给他们指定应负的重轭，因为他已不再怜惜他们。 | 7And my people shall long for my return: but a yoke shall be put upon them together, which shall not be taken off. |
| 8厄弗辣因！我怎能舍弃你？以色列！我怎能抛掉你？我怎能使你如同阿德玛，待你如同责波殷？我的心已转变，我的五内已感动； | 8How shall I deal with thee, O Ephraim, shall I protect thee, O Israel? how shall I make thee as Adama, shall I set thee as Seboim? my heart is turned within me, my repentance is stirred up. |
| 9我不再按我的盛怒行事，不再毁灭厄弗辣因，因为我是天主而不是人，是在你中间的圣者，而不是伏于城门的仇敌。 | 9I will not execute the fierceness of my wrath: I will not return to destroy Ephraim: because I am God, and not man: the holy one in the midst of thee, and I will not enter into the city. |
| 10的确，他们必要追随上主，他要像狮子吼叫；他一吼叫，他的子女便要从西方急速归来， | 10They shall walk after the Lord, he shall roar as a lion: because he shall roar, and the children of the sea shall fear. |
| 11犹如飞鸟由埃及急速飞来，犹如鸽子从亚述飞来；我要使他们安居在他们的家中──上主的断语。 | 11And they shall fly away like a bird out of Egypt, and like a dove out of the land of the Assyrians: and I will place them in their own houses, saith the Lord. |
| 12 | 12Ephraim hath compassed me about with denials, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Juda went down as a witness with God, and is faithful with the saints. |
