| 1上主传给耶肋米亚的话：那时，漆德克雅王正派玛耳基雅的儿子帕市胡尔，和司祭玛阿色雅的儿子责法尼雅来见他说： | 1The word that came to Jeremias from the Lord, when king Sedecias sent unto him Phassur, the son of Melchias, and Sophonias, the son of Maasias the priest, saying: |
| 2请你替我们诣询问上主：「巴比伦王拿步高既来与我们作战，上主是否依照他所行的奇事来协助我们，叫他离我们远去？」 | 2Inquire of the Lord for us, for Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon maketh war against us: if so be the Lord will deal with us according to all his wonderful works, that he may depart from us. |
| 3耶肋米亚便回答他们说：「你们应这样对漆德克雅说： | 3And Jeremias said to them: Thus shall you say to Sedecias: |
| 4上主，以色列的天主这样说：看，我必使你们手中所持，用以攻击在城外围攻你们的巴比伦王和加色丁人的武器，反回集中在这城的中心。 | 4Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel: Behold I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, with which you fight against the king of Babylon, and the Chaldeans, that besiege you round about the walls: and I will gather them together in the midst of this city. |
| 5然后我要伸出手来，以强力的手臂、震怒、狂暴和愤恨痛击你们， | 5And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand, and with a strong arm, and in fury, and in indignation, and in great wrath. |
| 6痛击住在这里的人和兽；他们必死于盛行的瘟疫。 | 6And I will strike the inhabitants of this city, men and beasts shall die of a great pestilence. |
| 7此后──上主的断语──我必将犹大王漆德克雅和他的臣仆，并这城中幸免于瘟疫、刀剑和饥馑的人民，交在巴比伦王拿步高和他们的仇敌，以及谋图他们性命者的手中，叫敌人用利刃击杀他们，毫不饶恕，毫不怜悯，毫不表同情。 | 7And after this, saith the Lord, I will give Sedecias the king of Juda, and his servants, and his people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence, and the sword, and the famine, into the hand of Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life, and he shall strike them with the edge of the sword, and he shall not be moved to pity, nor spare them, nor shew mercy on them. |
| 8此外，你应对这人民说：上主这样说：看，我将生命的路和死亡的路，摆在你们面前： | 8And to this people thou shalt say: Thus saith the Lord: Behold I set before you the way of life, and the way of death. |
| 9凡留在这城中的，必死于刀剑、饥馑和瘟疫；凡出来向围攻你们的加色丁人投降的，必保全性命，必有生命当作自己的胜利品。 | 9He that shall abide in this city, shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that shall go out and flee over to the Chaldeans, that besiege you, shall live, and his life shall be to him as a spoil. |
| 10我所以转面向着这城，是为降灾，并不是为赐福──上主的断语──这城必被交在巴比伦王手中，他要火烧这城。」 | 10For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, saith the Lord: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire. |
| 11对于犹大的王室，你应该这样说：你们该聆听上主的话， | 11And to the house of the king of Juda: Hear ye the word of the Lord, |
| 12达味家族！上主这样说：「你们应及早执行正义，从压迫者手中解救被剥夺的人，免得我的忿怒，因你们行事邪恶，像火一般烧起，而没有人能够熄灭。」 | 12O house of David, thus saith the Lord: Judge ye judgement in the morning, and deliver him that is oppressed by violence out of the hand of the oppressor: lest my indignation go forth like a fire, and be kindled, and there be none to quench it, because of the evil of your ways. |
| 13至于你这居住在谷中和平原巖石上的人，看，我来对付你──上主的断语──你们夸说：「谁能下来攻击我们？谁能进入我们的巢穴？」 | 13Behold I come to thee that dwellest in a valley upon a rock above a plain, saith the Lord: and you say: Who shall strike us? and who shall enter into our houses? |
| 14我必按照你们行为应得的，来惩罚你们──上主的断语──我要在她的树林里放火，吞灭她四周的一切。 | 14But I will visit upon you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the Lord: and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof: and it shall devour all things round about it. |
