约伯传	Job
¹从前在胡兹地方，有一个人名叫约伯，为人十全十美，生性正直，敬畏天主，远离邪恶。	¹There was a man in the land of Hus, whose name was Job, and that man was simple and upright, and fearing God, and avoiding evil.
²他生了七个儿子，三个女儿。	²And there were born to him seven sons and three daughters.
³家畜有七千只羊，三千骆驼，五百对牛，五百母驴，且有很多仆人。此人是当时东方人民中最伟大的人物。	³And his possession was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a family exceeding great: and this man was great among all the people of the east.
⁴他的每个儿子，按日轮流在家中设宴，且派人邀请他们的三个姊妹来一同宴饮。	⁴And his sons went, and made a feast by houses every one in his day. And sending they called their three sisters to eat and drink with them.
⁵及至宴饮的日子轮流一周，约伯总是派人召集他们来圣洁他们，清早起来照子女的数目，献上全燔祭品说：「恐怕我的儿子犯了罪，心中诅咒了天主。」约伯常常如此行事。	⁵And when the days of their feasting were gone about, Job sent to them, and sanctified them: and rising up early offered holocausts for every one of them. For he said: Lest perhaps my sons have sinned, and have blessed God in their hearts. So did Job all days.
⁶有一天，天主的众子都来侍立在上主面前，撒殚也夹在他们当中。	⁶Now on a certain day when the sons of God came to stand before the Lord, Satan also was present among them.
⁷上主问撒殚说：「你从那里来？」撒殚回答上主说：「我走遍了世界，周游了各地回来。」	⁷And the Lord said to him: Whence comest thou? And he answered and said: I have gone round about the earth, and walked through it.
⁸上主对撒殚说：「你曾留心注意到我的仆人约伯没有？因为世上没有一个像他那样十全十美，生性正直，敬畏天主，远避邪恶的人。」	⁸And the Lord said to him: Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a simple and upright man, and fearing God, and avoiding evil?
⁹撒殚回答上主说：「约伯那里是无缘无故敬畏天主的呢？	⁹And Satan answering, said: Doth Job fear God in vain?
¹⁰你不是四面保护他、他的家庭和他所有的一切么？并且凡是他亲手做的，你都祝福了；你使他的牲畜在地上繁殖增多。	¹⁰Hast not thou made a fence for him, and his house, and all his substance round about, blessed the works of his hands, and his possession hath increased on the earth?
¹¹但是你若伸手打击他所有的一切，他必定当面诅咒你。」	¹¹But stretch forth thy hand a little, and touch all that he hath, and see if he blesseth thee not to thy face.
¹²上主对撒殚说：「看，他所有的一切，都随你处理，只是不要伸手加害他的身体。」撒殚遂离开天主走了。	¹²Then the Lord said to Satan: Behold, all that he hath is in thy hand: only put not forth thy hand upon his person. And Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.
¹³有一天，他的儿子同他的女儿，正在长兄家里欢宴饮酒的时候，	¹³Now upon a certain day when his sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their eldest brother,
¹⁴有个带信的人跑来向约伯说：「牛正在耕田，母驴在一旁吃草的时候，	¹⁴There came a messenger to Job, and said: The oxen were ploughing, and the asses feeding beside them,
¹⁵舍巴人突然闯来将牲口抢了去，用刀将那些仆人杀了，只有我一人逃脱，来向你报告。」	¹⁵And the Sabeans rushed in, and took all away, and slew the servants with the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell thee.
¹⁶这人还在报告时，另一个人跑来说：「天主的火由天降下，将羊群和仆人都烧死了，只有我一人逃脱，来向你报告。」	¹⁶And while he was yet speaking, another came, and said: The fire of God fell from heaven, and striking the sheep and the servants, hath consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell thee.
¹⁷这人还在报告时，另一个人跑来说：「加色丁人分成三队闯入骆驼群，将骆驼抢走了，用刀将仆人杀了，只有我一人逃脱，来向你报告。」	¹⁷And while he also was yet speaking, there came another, and said: The Chaldeans made three troops, and have fallen upon the camels, and taken them, moreover they have slain the servants with the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell thee.
¹⁸这人还在报告时，另一个人跑来说；「你的儿女正在长兄家宴饮的时候，	¹⁸He was yet speaking, and behold another came in, and said: Thy sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their elder brother:
¹⁹忽然从旷野那边吹来一阵飓风，刮倒了房屋的四角，压死了你的孩子，只有我一人幸免，来向你报告。」	¹⁹A violent wind came on a sudden from the side of the desert, and shook the four corners of the house, and it fell upon thy children and they are dead, and I alone have escaped to fell thee.
²⁰约伯就起来，撕裂了自己的外氅，剃去头发，俯伏在地叩拜，	²⁰Then Job rose up, and rent his garments, and having shaven his head fell down upon the ground and worshipped,
²¹说「我赤身脱离母胎，也要赤身归去；上主赐的，上主收回，愿上主的名受到赞美！」	²¹And said: Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away: as it hath pleased the Lord so is it done: blessed be the name of the Lord.
²²就这一切事而论，约伯并没有犯罪，也没有说抱怨天主的话。	²²In all these things Job sinned not by his lips, nor spoke he any foolish thing against God.
