| 1纳阿玛人左法尔答复说： | 1Then Sophar the Naamathite answered, and said: |
| 2因我的思潮起伏，叫我答复，为此我内心十分急躁。 | 2Therefore various thoughts succeed one another in me, and my mind is hurried away to different things. |
| 3斥责辱骂我的话，我已听到，我的理智催迫我答复。 | 3The doctrine with which thou reprovest me, I will hear, and the spirit of my understanding shall answer for me. |
| 4你岂不知道，自古以来，自从世上有人以来， | 4This I know from the beginning, since man was placed upon the earth, |
| 5恶人的欢欣决不久长，无神者的喜乐瞬息即逝？ | 5That the praise of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment. |
| 6他的骄傲虽高顶苍天，他的头虽插入青云， | 6If his pride mount up even to heaven, and his head touch the clouds: |
| 7但他必像幻像，永归无有；见过他的人必说：「他那里去了？」 | 7In the end he shall be destroyed like a dunghill, and they that has seen him shall say: Where is he? |
| 8他又像梦境消散，无蹟可寻；又像夜梦，消失无踪。 | 8As a dream that fleeth away he shall not be found, he shall pass as a vision of the night: |
| 9见过他的眼，再也见不到他；他的住所，再也不认识他。 | 9The eyes that had seen him, shall see him no more, neither shall his place any more behold him. |
| 10他的儿子要赔偿穷人的损害，他要亲手把财物交还。 | 10His children shall be oppressed with want, and his hands shall render him his sorrow. |
| 11他的骨骸虽富有魄力，但要同他一起埋于尘埃。 | 11His bones shall be filled with the vices of his youth, and they shall sleep with him in the dust. |
| 12邪恶在他口中虽觉甘甜，藏在他的舌下， | 12For when evil shall be sweet in his mouth, he will hide it under his tongue. |
| 13他虽爱惜不舍，久久含在口中； | 13He will spare it, and not leave it, and will hide it in his throat. |
| 14但那食物在他腹中要起变化，在他五内要变成蛇的毒汁。 | 14His bread in his belly shall be turned into the gall of asps within him. |
| 15他并吞的财富，必要吐出，天主必使之由他腹中呕出。 | 15The riches which he hath swallowed; he shall vomit up, and God shall draw them out of his belly. |
| 16他原吸入了蛇的毒汁，毒蛇的舌头必将他杀死。 | 16He shall suck the head of asps, and the viper's tongue shall kill him. |
| 17他不得观赏油流如溪，也看不到那流蜜流奶的小河。 | 17(Let him not see the streams of the river, the brooks of honey and of butter.) |
| 18他劳力之所得，应该退还，不得吞下；赚来的财富，不得享用。 | 18He shall be punished for all that he did, and yet shall not be consumed: according to the multitude of his devices so also shall he suffer. |
| 19因为他压搾了穷人，使他们无依；强占了人家的房屋，不得再建。 | 19Because he broke in and stripped the poor: he hath violently taken away a house which he did not build. |
| 20因为他口腹之欲总不知足，他所喜爱之物，也救不了他。 | 20And yet his belly was not filled: and when he hath the things he coveted, he shall not be able to possess them. |
| 21没有什么能逃脱他的吞噬，他的幸福决不久长。 | 21There was nothing left of his meat, and therefore nothing shall continue of his goods: |
| 22他财产富足时，却不免拮据，各种的困苦齐集他身。 | 22When he shall be filled, he shall be straitened, he shall burn, and every sorrow shall fall upon him. |
| 23当他肚腹饱满时，天主的怒火突然降到，箭如雨点射在他身上。 | 23May his belly be filled, that God may send forth the wrath of his indignation upon him, and rain down his war upon him. |
| 24他逃避过铁器，铜矢必将他射穿。 | 24He shall flee from weapons of iron, and shall fall upon a bow of brass. |
| 25一箭由他的脊背穿透，光亮的箭矢由他的胆囊穿出，死亡的恐怖已落在他身上。 | 25The sword is drawn out, and cometh forth from its scabbard, and glittereth in his bitterness: the terrible ones shall go and come upon him. |
| 26层层黑暗留作他的宝藏，非人燃起的火要焚烧他，吞尽留在他帐幕的人。 | 26All darkness is hid in his secret places: a fire that is not kindled shall devour him, he shall be afflicted when left in his tabernacle. |
| 27天要彰显他的罪恶，地也起来攻击他。 | 27The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, and the earth shall rise up against him. |
| 28洪水冲走他的住宅，在天主义怒之日要全被冲去。 | 28The offspring of his house shall be exposed, he shall be pulled down in the day of God's wrath. |
| 29这是恶人由天主所应得的一份，是天主为他所註定的产业。 | 29This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the inheritance of his doings from the Lord. |
