| 1银有出产之地，金有冶炼之所。 | 1Silver hath beginnings of its veins, and gold hath a place wherein it is melted. |
| 2铁由土中掘出，铜自石中镕炼。 | 2Iron is taken out of the earth, and stone melted with heat is turned into brass. |
| 3人给黑暗制定了界限，探讨幽暗阴晦的坚石，挖至地层深处。 | 3He hath set a time for darkness, and the end of all things he considereth, the stone also that is in the dark and the shadow of death. |
| 4在无人居住之处开凿矿穴，上面过路的人，也想不到他们远离人间，身悬半空，摇摆不定。 | 4The flood divideth from the people that are on their journey, those whom the food of the needy man hath forgotten, and who cannot be come at. |
| 5地上出产食粮，地下有火翻腾。 | 5The land, out of which bread grew in its place, hath been overturned with fire. |
| 6那里的石头尽是碧玉，尘沙尽是金沙。 | 6The stones of it are the place of sapphires, and the clods of it are gold. |
| 7矿中的幽径，猛禽不知，鹰眼未见。 | 7The bird hath not known the path, neither hath the eye of the vulture beheld it. |
| 8野兽未践踏，猛狮未经过。 | 8The children of the merchants have not trodden it, neither hath the lioness passed by it. |
| 9人伸手击打燧石，山基为之震撼动摇。 | 9He hath stretched forth his hand to the flint, he hath overturned mountains from the roots. |
| 10在巖石中开凿隧道，所有珍宝尽入眼帘。 | 10In the rocks he hath cut out rivers, and his eye hath seen every precious thing. |
| 11探察江河之源流，使宝藏显露于外。 | 11The depths also of rivers he hath searched, and hidden things he hath brought forth to light. |
| 12但是智慧在那里寻觅，那里是明智之所在？ | 12But where is wisdom to be found, and where is the place of understanding? |
| 13智慧的道路，人不认识，在众生界寻不到她。 | 13Man knoweth not the price thereof, neither is it found in the land of them that live in delights. |
| 14深渊说：「她不在我这里。」海洋说：「她不与我同域。」 | 14The depth saith: It is not in me: and the sea saith: It is not with me. |
| 15她非精金所能购买，也不能称量银子作她的代价。 | 15The finest gold shall not purchase it, neither shall silver be weighed in exchange for it. |
| 16敖非尔金不能与她较量，宝石和碧玉也不能与她相比。 | 16It shall not be compared with the dyed colours of India, or with the most precious stone sardonyx, or the sapphire. |
| 17黄金与琉璃不能与她同列，纯金的器皿也不能与她交换。 | 17Gold or crystal cannot equal it, neither shall any vessels of gold be changed for it. |
| 18珊瑚与水晶都不足论，取得智慧胜过取得珍珠。 | 18High and eminent things shall not be mentioned in comparison of it: but wisdom is drawn out of secret places. |
| 19雇士的黄玉不足与她相比，纯金也不能与她较量。 | 19The topaz of Ethiopia shall not be equal to it, neither shall it be compared to the cleanest dyeing. |
| 20究竟智慧由何处而来，那里是明智之所在？ | 20Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding? |
| 21在众生的眼目未曾见过，天空的飞鸟也未发现。 | 21It is hid from the eyes of all living. and the fowls of the air know it not. |
| 22「毁灭」与「死亡」都说：「我们只风闻过她的声望。」 | 22Destruction and death have said: With our ears we have heard the fame thereof. |
| 23惟独天主认识她的道路，惟有他知道她的处所。 | 23God understandeth the way of it, and he knoweth the place thereof. |
| 24因为惟有他观察地极，俯视天下的一切。 | 24For he beholdeth the ends of the world: and looketh on all things that are under heaven. |
| 25当他划定风的重量，规定水的定量， | 25Who made a weight for the winds and weighed the waters by measure. |
| 26厘定下雨的季节，规定雷电的路线时， | 26When he gave a law for the rain, and a way for the sounding storms. |
| 27他已见了她，讲述了她，立定了她，考察了她。 | 27Then he saw it, and declared, and prepared, and searched it. |
| 28然后对人说：「看，敬畏上主，就是智慧；远离邪恶，就是明智。」 | 28And he said to man: Behold the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom: and to depart from evil, is understanding. |
