| 1厄里乌又接着说： | 1Moreover Eliu spoke these words: |
| 2你说过：「我在天主前是正义的。」你想这话合理吗？ | 2Doth thy thought seem right to thee, that thou shouldst say: I am more just than God? |
| 3你还说过：「这与你何干？我若犯罪，我对你做了什么？」 | 3For thou saidst: That which is right doth not please thee: or what will it profit thee if I sin? |
| 4我今答复你，以及和你在一起的友人。 | 4Therefore I will answer thy words, and thy friends with thee. |
| 5请你仰视上天，且要静观，细看高于你的苍天。 | 5Look up to heaven and see, and behold the sky, that it is higher than thee. |
| 6你若犯罪，为他有什么害处？你若作恶多端，又能加害他什么？ | 6If thou sin, what shalt thou hurt him? and if thy iniquities be multiplied, what shalt thou do against him? |
| 7如果你为人正义，为他又有何益？或者他由你手中获得什么？ | 7And if thou do justly, what shalt thou give him, or what shall he receive of thy hand? |
| 8你的恶行只能加害与你类似的人，你的正义也只能有益于世人。 | 8Thy wickedness may hurt a man that is like thee: and thy justice may help the son of man. |
| 9人因受暴虐过甚，必要哀号；因受强权的压迫，必要呼吁。 | 9By reason of the multitude of oppressions they shall cry out: and shall wail for the violence of the arm of tyrants. |
| 10但是没有人说：「那造成我们，使人夜间欢唱， | 10And he hath not said: Where is God, who made me, who hath given songs in the night? |
| 11使我们比地上的走兽更聪明，使我们比天上的飞鸟更有智慧的天主在那里？」 | 11Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and instructeth us more than the fowls of the air. |
| 12他们虽呼喊，天主却不答应，这是因为恶人傲慢的原故。 | 12There shall they cry, and he will not hear, because of the pride of evil men. |
| 13他们空喊乱叫，天主决不俯听，全能者决不垂视。 | 13God therefore will not hear in vain, and the Almighty will look into the causes of every one. |
| 14何况你说过：「你看不见他；但你的案件已放在他面前，你应等待他！」 | 14Yea when thou shalt say: He considereth not: be judged before him, and expect him. |
| 15你还说过：「他没有发怒施罚，似乎不很理会罪过。」 | 15For he doth not now bring on his fury, neither doth he revenge wickedness exceedingly. |
| 16的确，约伯开口尽说空话；由于无知，说了许多妄言。 | 16Therefore Job openeth his mouth in vain, and multiplieth words without knowledge. |
