| 1上主由旋风中向约伯发言说： | 1Then the Lord answered Job out of a whirlwind, and said: |
| 2用无知的话，使我的计划模糊不明的是谁？ | 2Who is this that wrappeth up sentences in unskillful words? |
| 3你要像勇士束好你的腰，我要问你，请指教我！ | 3Gird up thy loins like a man: I will ask thee, and answer thou me. |
| 4我奠定大地的基础时，你在那里？你若聪明，尽管说罢！ | 4Where wast thou when I laid up the foundations of the earth? tell me if thou hast understanding. |
| 5你知道是谁制定了地的度量，是谁在地上拉了准绳？ | 5Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? |
| 6地的基础置在何处，是谁立了地的角石？ | 6Upon what are its bases grounded? or who laid the corner stone thereof, |
| 7当时星辰一起歌咏，天主的众子同声欢呼！ | 7When the morning stars praised me together, and all the sons of God made a joyful melody? |
| 8海水汹涌如出母胎时，是谁用门将海关闭？ | 8Who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth as issuing out of the womb: |
| 9是我用云彩作海的衣裳，用浓雾作海的襁褓。 | 9When I made a cloud the garment thereof, and wrapped it in a mist as in swaddling bands? |
| 10是我给海划定了界限，设立了门和闩， | 10I set my bounds around it, and made it bars and doors: |
| 11并下令说：「你到此为止，不得越过；你的狂潮到此为止。」 | 11And I said: Hitherto thou shalt come, and shalt go no further, and here thou shalt break thy swelling waves. |
| 12你有生之日，何尝给晨光出过命令，又何尝使曙光知道它之所生？ | 12Didst thou since thy birth command the morning, and shew the dawning of the day its place? |
| 13何尝使光握紧大地四角，将恶人从那里抖出去？ | 13And didst thou hold the extremities of the earth shaking them, and hast thou shaken the ungodly out of it? |
| 14曙光改变大地，如在胶泥上盖印；使万物出现，如着锦衣； | 14The seal shall be restored as clay, and shall stand as a garment: |
| 15撤去恶人的光明，折断高举的手。 | 15From the wicked their light shall be taken away, and the high arm shall be broken. |
| 16你曾否到过海的源流，走过深渊的底处？ | 16Hast thou entered into the depths of the sea, and walked in the lowest parts of the deep? |
| 17死亡的门给你开启过吗？你见过死影之门吗？ | 17Have the gates of death been opened to thee, and hast thou seen the darksome doors? |
| 18你知道大地的广阔吗？你若知道，请你说罢！ | 18Hast thou considered the breadth of the earth? tell me, if thou knowest all things? |
| 19赴光明之所的路是那一条，黑暗的住处在那里？ | 19Where is the way where light dwelleth, and where is the place of darkness: |
| 20你知道如何引导黑暗到自己的境地，领黑暗回到自己居所的道路上吗？ | 20That thou mayst bring every thing to its own bounds, and understand the paths of the house thereof. |
| 21你总该知道，因为你那时已诞生了，而你的年岁已很高。 | 21Didst thou know then that thou shouldst be born? and didst thou know the number of thy days? |
| 22你到过雪库，见过雹仓吗？ | 22Hast thou entered into the storehouses of the snow, or has thou beheld the treasures of the hail: |
| 23那是我为降灾之时，为战争之日所存放的。 | 23Which I have prepared for the time of the enemy, against the day of battle and war? |
| 24云雾由那条路散开，东风由那条路吹往大地？ | 24By what way is the light spread, and heat divided upon the earth? |
| 25谁为暴雨启开闸门，谁为雷电指示道路， | 25Who gave a course to violent showers, or a way for noisy thunder: |
| 26好使雨落在无人之境，降在无人的荒野， | 26That it should rain on the earth without man in the wilderness, where no mortal dwelleth: |
| 27为润泽荒野干旱之地，好使原野中的绿草生长？ | 27That it should fill the desert and desolate land, and should bring forth green grass? |
| 28雨有父亲吗？谁生了露珠？ | 28Who is the father of rain? or who begot the drops of dew? |
| 29冰出自谁的胎？天上的霜是谁生的？ | 29Out of whose womb came the ice; and the frost from heaven who hath gendered it? |
| 30水怎样凝结如石？深渊的表面怎样固结？ | 30The waters are hardened like a stone, and the surface of the deep is congealed. |
| 31你岂能拴住昴宿的纽结，解开参星的绳索？ | 31Shalt thou be able to join together the shining stars the Pleiades, or canst thou stop the turning about of Arcturus? |
| 32你岂能使晨星按时升出，引导北斗和它的星群？ | 32Canst thou bring forth the day star in its time, and make the evening star to rise upon the children of the earth? |
| 33你岂知道天体的定律，立定天律以管治大地？ | 33Dost thou know the order of heaven, and canst thou set down the reason thereof on the earth? |
| 34你岂能使你的声音上达云霄，使雨水沛然降在你处？ | 34Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that an abundance of waters may cover thee? |
| 35你能否一发令，闪电就发出，且向你说：「我们在这里！」 | 35Canst thou send lightnings, and will they go, and will they return and say to thee: Here we are? |
| 36谁将聪明给与鹳鸟，将智慧赋与雄鸡？ | 36Who hath put wisdom in the heart of man? or who gave the cock understanding? |
| 37当土壤坚固，泥块凝结之时， | 37Who can declare the order of the heavens, or who can make the harmony of heaven to sleep? |
| 38谁能凭智力数清云彩，能倾倒天上的水囊？ | 38When was the dust poured on the earth, and the clods fastened together? |
| 39当狮子伏于洞穴，卧于丛林埋伏的时候， | 39Wilt thou take the prey for the lioness, and satisfy the appetite of her whelps, |
| 40你是否能为牝狮猎取食物，满足幼狮的食欲？ | 40When they couch in the dens and lie in wait in holes? |
| 41当雏鸦无食，往还飞翔，向天主哀鸣的时候，谁能为乌鸦备食？ | 41Who provideth food for the raven, when her young ones cry to God, wandering about, because they have no meat? |
