¹上主训示梅瑟说：	¹And the people marched from Haseroth, and pitched their tents in the desert of Pharan.
²「你要派遣一些人去窥探我要赐给以色列子民的客纳罕地；每一宗族支派应派遣一人去，个个都应是他们中的领袖。」	²And there the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
³梅瑟就依照上主的命令，从帕兰旷野派遣他们去了；这些人全是以色列子民的首领。	³Send men to view the land of Chanaan, which I will give to the children of Israel, one of every tribe, of the rulers.
⁴以下是他们的名字：勒乌本支派是匝雇尔的儿子沙慕亚；	⁴Moses did what the Lord had commanded, sending from the desert of Pharan, principal men, whose names are these:
⁵西默盎支派是曷黎的儿子沙法特；	⁵Of the tribe of Ruben, Sammua the son of Zechur.
⁶犹大支派是耶孚乃的儿子加肋布；	⁶Of the tribe of Simeon, Saphat the son of Hurl.
⁷依撒加尔支派，是若瑟的儿子依卡耳；	⁷Of the tribe of Juda, Caleb the son of Jephone.
⁸厄弗辣因支派是农的儿子曷舍亚；	⁸Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph.
⁹本雅明支派是辣富的儿子帕耳提；	⁹Of the tribe of Ephraim, Osee the son of Nun.
¹⁰则步隆支派是索狄的儿子加狄耳；	¹⁰Of the tribe of Benjamin, Phalti the son of Raphu.
¹¹若瑟支派，即默纳协支派是稣息的儿子加狄；	¹¹Of the tribe of Zabulon, Geddiel the son of Sodi.
¹²丹支派是革玛里的儿子阿米耳；	¹²Of the tribe of Joseph, of the sceptre of Manasses, Gaddi the son of Susi.
¹³阿协尔支派是米加耳的儿子色突尔；	¹³Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli.
¹⁴纳斐塔里支派是沃斐息的儿子纳赫彼；	¹⁴Of the tribe of Aser, Sthur the son of Michael.
¹⁵加得支派是玛基的儿子革乌耳；	¹⁵Of the tribe of Nephtali, Nahabi the son of Vapsi.
¹⁶以上是梅瑟派去窥探那地方的人名；梅瑟给农的儿子曷舍亚起名叫若苏厄。	¹⁶Of the tribe of Gad, Guel the son of Machi.
¹⁷当梅瑟派遣他们窥探客纳罕地时，向他们说：「你们由此上乃革布去，然后上山区去，	¹⁷These are the names of the men, whom Moses sent to view the land: and he called Osee the son of Nun, Josue.
¹⁸窥看那地方怎样，看住在那地方的人民是强盛或是软弱，是稀少或是众多；	¹⁸And Moses sent them to view the land of Chanaan, and said to them: Go you up by the south side. And when you shall come to the mountains,
¹⁹他们住的地方是好，或是坏；他们居住的城镇是不设防，或是设防的；	¹⁹View the land, of what sort it is: and the people that are the inhabitants thereof, whether they be strong or weak: few in number or many:
²⁰有什么土壤，是肥沃或是贫瘠；在那里有没有树木。你们应勇敢，带些那地方的果子来。」那时是葡萄初熟的时节。	²⁰The land itself, whether it be good or bad: what manner of cities, walled or without walls:
²¹他们遂上去，窥探了那地方，从亲旷野直到勒曷布，哈玛特关口。	²¹The ground, fat or barren, woody or without trees. Be of good courage, and bring us of the fruits of the land. Now it was the time when the first ripe grapes are fit to be eaten.
²²他们上到乃革布，来到了赫贝龙。在那里有阿纳克的后裔阿希曼、舍瑟和塔耳买。──赫贝龙城比埃及左罕城早建七年。	²²And when they were gone up, they viewed the land from the desert of Sin, unto Rohob as you enter into Emath.
²³他们一直来到厄市苛耳山谷，砍下了一枝只有一嘟噜的葡萄，两人用杠子抬着，又摘了些石榴和无花果。	²³And they went up at the south side, and came to Hebron, where were Achiman and Sisai and Tholmai the sons of Enac. For Hebron was built seven years before Tanis the city of Egypt.
²⁴人称那地方为厄市苛耳山谷，因为以色列子民从那里砍去了一嘟噜葡萄。	²⁴And going forward as far as the torrent of the cluster of grapes, they cut off a branch with its cluster of grapes, which two men carried upon a lever. They took also of the pomegranates and of the figs of that place:
²⁵四十天后，他们由侦探的地方回来，	²⁵Which was called Nehelescol, that is to say, the torrent of the cluster of grapes, because from thence the children of Israel had carried a cluster of grapes.
²⁶到了帕兰旷野的卡德士去见梅瑟、亚郎和以色列子民的全会众，给他们和全会众报告，叫他们看那地方的果子。	²⁶And they that went to spy out the land returned after forty days, having gone round all the country,
²⁷他们向梅瑟报告说：「我们到了你派遣我们去的那个地方，实在是流奶流蜜的地方；这是那地方的出产。	²⁷And came to Moses and Aaron and to all the assembly of the children of Israel to the desert of Pharan, which is in Cades. And speaking to them and to all the multitude, they shewed them the fruits of the land:
²⁸只是住在那地方的人强盛，城镇坚固广大，而且我们在那里也见到了阿纳克的后裔。	²⁸And they related and said: We came into the land to which thou sentest us, which in very deed floweth with milk and honey as may be known by these fruits:
²⁹阿玛肋克人住在乃革布地方；赫特人、耶步斯人和阿摩黎人住在山区；客纳罕人住在海滨和约但河沿岸一带。」	²⁹But it hath very strong inhabitants, and the cities are great and walled. We saw there the race of Enac.
³⁰加肋布使百姓在梅瑟前镇静说：「我们尽管上去，必要占领那地方。我们必能战胜。」	³⁰Amalec dwelleth in the south, the Hethite and the Jebusite and the Amorrhite in the mountains: but the Chanaanite abideth by the sea and near the streams of the Jordan.
³¹但是与他同去的人却说：「我们不能前去攻打那民族，因为他们比我们强盛。」	³¹In the mean time Caleb, to still the murmuring of the people that rose against Moses, said: Let us go up and possess the land, for we shall be able to conquer it.
³²于是他们在以色列子民中，对所侦探的地方散布谣言说：「我们侦探所经过的地方，是个吞噬当地居民的地方；我们在那里所见到的民族，都是高大的人。	³²But the others, that had been with him, said: No, we are not able to go up to this people, because they are stronger than we.
³³在那里还见到了巨人，即巨人的后裔，阿纳克的子孙；我们看自己好像是蚱蜢；在他们看来，我们也实在如此。」	³³And they spoke ill of the land, which they had viewed, before the children of Israel, saying: The land which we have viewed, devoureth its inhabitants: the people, that we beheld, are of a tall stature.
³⁴	³⁴There we saw certain monsters of the sons of Enac, of the giant kind: in comparison of whom, we seemed like locusts.
