¹客纳罕人的阿辣得王，其时住在乃革布，听说以色列人沿阿塔陵路前来，就与以色列人交战，掳去了一些人。	¹And when king Arad the Chanaanite, who dwelt towards the south, had heard this, to wit, that Israel was come by the way of the spies, he fought against them, and overcoming them carried off their spoils.
²以色列人于是向上主许愿说：「你若将这人民交在我手内，我必将他们的城毁灭。」	²But Israel binding himself by vow to the Lord, said: It thou wilt deliver this people into my hand, I will utterly destroy their cities.
³上主遂听了以色列人的请求，将客纳罕人交在他们手里，以色列人就毁灭了他们和他们的城；人遂给那地方起名叫曷尔玛。	³And the Lord heard the prayers of Israel, and delivered up the Chanaanite, and they cut them off and destroyed their cities: and they called the name of that place Horma, that is to say, Anathema.
⁴他们由曷尔山沿红海的路起程出发，绕过厄东地；在路上人民已不耐烦，	⁴And they marched from mount Hor, by the way that leadeth to the Red Sea, to compass the land of Edom. And the people began to be weary of their journey and labour:
⁵抱怨天主和梅瑟说：「你们为什么领我们由埃及上来死在旷野？这里没有粮食，又没有水，我们对这轻淡的食物已感厌恶。」	⁵And speaking against God and Moses, they said: Why didst thou bring us out of Egypt, to die in the wilderness? There is no bread, nor have we any waters: our soul now loatheth this very light food.
⁶上主遂打发火蛇到人民中来，咬死了许多以色列人。	⁶Wherefore the Lord sent among the people fiery serpents, which bit them and killed many of them.
⁷人民于是来到梅瑟前说：「我们犯了罪，抱怨了上主和你；请你转求上主，给我们赶走这些蛇。」梅瑟遂为人民转求。	⁷Upon which they came to Moses, and said: We have sinned, because we have spoken against the Lord and thee: pray that he may take away these serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
⁸上主对梅瑟说：「你做一条火蛇，悬在木竿上；凡是被咬的，一瞻仰牠，必得生存。」	⁸And the Lord said to him: Make brazen serpent, and set it up for a sign: whosoever being struck shall look on it, shall live.
⁹梅瑟遂做了一条铜蛇，悬在木竿上；那被蛇咬了的人，一瞻仰铜蛇，就保存了生命。	⁹Moses therefore made a brazen serpent, and set it up for a sign: which when they that were bitten looked upon, they were healed.
¹⁰以色列子民再起程出发，在敖波特扎了营；	¹⁰And the children of Israel setting forwards camped in Oboth.
¹¹由敖波特又出发，在依耶阿巴陵，即在面朝摩阿布东边的旷野内扎了营。	¹¹And departing thence they pitched their tents in Jeabarim, in the wilderness, that faceth Moab toward the east.
¹²由那里又出发，在则勒得河旁扎了营。	¹²And removing from thence, they came to the torrent Zared:
¹³由那里又出发，在阿尔农北岸扎了营。这条河是在旷野中，由阿摩黎人的边境流出；阿尔农就是摩阿布的边界，介于摩阿布和阿摩黎之间。	¹³Which they left and encamped over against Arnon, which is in the desert and standeth out on the borders of the Amorrhite. For Arnon is the border of Moab, dividing the Moabites and the Amorrhites.
¹⁴为此在「上主的战书」上说「……在稣法的瓦赫布和阿尔农山谷，	¹⁴Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the Lord: As he did in the Red Sea, so will he do in the streams of Amen.
¹⁵以及山谷的斜坡；这斜坡伸展到阿尔地区，紧靠摩阿布的边境。」	¹⁵The rocks of the torrents were bowed down that they might rest in Ar, and lie down in the borders of the Moabites.
¹⁶由那里他们到了贝尔，那里有口井，上主曾指这井对梅瑟说：「你召集人民，我要赐给他们水喝。」	¹⁶When they went from that place, the well appeared whereof the Lord said to Moses: Gather the people together, and I will give them water.
¹⁷那时以色列人就唱了这首歌说：「井，涌出水来！你们应对它歌唱！	¹⁷Then Israel sung this song: Let the well spring up. They sung thereto:
¹⁸这井是领袖挖掘的，是民间的贵人，以权杖和棍棒挖凿的。」他们由旷野到玛塔纳；	¹⁸The well, which the princes dug, and the chiefs of the people prepared by the direction of the lawgiver, and with their staves. And they marched from the wilderness to Mathana.
¹⁹由玛塔纳到了纳哈里耳；由纳哈里耳到了巴摩特；	¹⁹From Mathana unto Nahaliel: from Nahaliel unto Bamoth.
²⁰由巴摩特到了摩阿布田野的山谷，到了俯瞰荒野的丕斯加高峰。	²⁰From Bamoth, is a valley in the country of Moab, to the top of Phasga, which looked towards the desert.
²¹以色列人派遣使者到阿摩黎人的君王息红前说：	²¹And Israel sent messengers to Sehon king of the Amorrhites, saying:
²²「请让我由你国内经过；我们决不闯入庄田或葡萄园，也不喝井中的水，只沿王道而行，直至走过你的国境。」	²²I beseech thee that I may have leave to pass through thy land: we will not go aside into the fields or the vineyards, we will not drink waters of the wells, we will go the king's highway, till we be past thy borders.
²³息红却不让以色列人经过他的国境；且调集自己所有的人民，往旷野里去对抗以色列人；一来到雅哈兹，就与以色列交战。	²³And he would not grant that Israel should pass by his borders: but rather gathering an army, went forth to meet them in the desert, and came to Jasa, and fought against them.
²⁴以色列人用刀剑将他击败，占领了他的国境，自阿尔农河直到雅波克河，直到阿孟子民那里，因为雅则尔是阿孟子民的边界。	²⁴And he was slain by them with the edge of the sword, and they possessed his land from the Arnon unto the Jeboc, and to the confines of the children of Ammon: for the borders of the Ammonites, were kept with a strong garrison.
²⁵如此以色列人占领了那里所有的城镇，就住在阿摩黎人所有的城镇内，并住在赫市朋及其附属城内。	²⁵So Israel took all his cities, and dwelt in the cities of the Amorrhite, to wit, in Hesebon, and in the villages thereof.
²⁶赫市朋原是阿摩黎人王息红的都城。息红与前任摩阿布王交战，占领了他所有的土地，直到阿尔农河。	²⁶Hesebon was the city of Sehon the king of the Amorrhites, who fought against the king of Moab: and took all the land, that had been of his dominions, as far as the Arnon.
²⁷为此诗人吟咏说：「你们到修建巩固的赫市朋去，那稳固的息红城；	²⁷Therefore it is said in the proverb: Come into Hesebon, let the city of Sehon be built and set up:
²⁸因为由赫市朋发出了火，从息红的城冒出了火焰，吞灭了摩阿布的阿尔，消灭了阿尔农的高丘。	²⁸A fire is gone out of Hesebon, a flame from the city of Sehon, and hath consumed Ar of the Moabites, and the inhabitants of the high places of the Arnon.
²⁹祸哉，摩阿布！革摩士的人民，你已灭亡！他的儿子已逃亡，女儿已被俘，交给了阿摩黎人的君王息红。	²⁹Woe to thee Moab: thou art undone, O people of Chamos. He hath given his sons to flight, and his daughters into captivity to Sehon the king of the Amorrhites.
³⁰但我们一袭击他们，赫市朋直到狄朋，尽成废墟；我们蹂躏一切……直到诺法黑，直到默德巴。」	³⁰Their yoke is perished from Hesebon unto Dibon, they came weary to Nophe, and unto Medaba.
³¹这样以色列人就住在阿摩黎人的区域内。	³¹So Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorrhite.
³²梅瑟又派人去侦探雅则尔；他们占领了这城及其附属城镇，驱逐了那里的阿摩黎人。	³²And Moses sent some to take a view of Jazer: and they took the villages of it, and conquered the inhabitants.
³³以后前进，上了往巴商的路。巴商王敖格同他全国的人民，就出来对抗他们，在厄德勒与他们交战。	³³And they turned themselves, and went up by the way of Basan, and Og the king of Basan came against them with all his people, to fight in Edrai.
³⁴上主对梅瑟说：「不必怕他，因为我已将他，他的一切人民和国土，都交在你手里了；你要待他，如同对待住在赫市朋的阿摩黎人的君王息红一样。」	³⁴And the Lord said to Moses: Fear him not, for I have delivered him and all his people, and his country into thy hand: and thou shalt do to him as thou didst to Sehon the king of the Amorrhites, the inhabitant of Hesebon.
³⁵他们击杀了他，他的儿子和他所有的人民，没有剩下一个；遂占据了他的国土。	³⁵So they slew him also with his sons, and all his people, not letting any one escape, and they possessed his land.
