| 1信誉比多财可取，敬仰比金银可贵。 | 1A good name is better than great riches: and good favour is above silver and gold. |
| 2富人与穷人彼此相遇，二者皆为上主所造。 | 2The rich and poor have met one another: the Lord is the maker of them both. |
| 3精明人遇见灾祸，即行隐避；无知者反向前走，自招损害。 | 3The prudent man saw the evil, and hid himself: the simple passed on, and suffered loss. |
| 4谦卑的赏报，是敬畏上主，是享有财富、尊荣和生命。 | 4The fruit of humility is the fear of the Lord, riches and glory and life. |
| 5邪恶者的路上，满布荆棘罗网；洁身自爱的人，必能远而避之。 | 5Arms and swords are in the way of the perverse: but he that keepeth his own soul departeth far from them. |
| 6你教导孩童应行的道路，待他老年时也不会离弃。 | 6It is a proverb: A young man according to his way, even when he is old he will not depart from it. |
| 7富人宰割穷人，债主奴役债户。 | 7The rich ruleth over the poor: and the borrower is servant to him that lendeth. |
| 8播种邪恶的，必收获灾祸；他辛苦工作，必全属徒劳。 | 8He that soweth iniquity shall reap evils, and with the rod of his anger he shall be consumed. |
| 9目光慈祥的，必蒙受祝福，因他将食粮，施舍给穷人。 | 9He that is inclined to mercy shall be blessed: for of his bread he hath given to the poor. He that maketh presents shall purchase victory and honour: but he carrieth away the souls of the receivers. |
| 10赶走了狂人，就除了争执；争讼与侮辱，亦相继止息。 | 10Cast out the scoffer, and contention shall go out with him, and quarrels and reproaches shall cease. |
| 11纯洁的心灵，是上主所爱；优雅的唇舌，是君王所悦。 | 11He that loveth cleanness of heart, for the grace of his lips shall have the king for his friend. |
| 12上主的眼目，常卫护知识；败类的言论，必加以毁灭。 | 12The eyes of the Lord preserve knowledge: and the words of the unjust are overthrown. |
| 13只有懒人说：「外面有狮子，在街市之中，我会被吞噬」。 | 13The slothful man saith: There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the midst of the streets. |
| 14淫妇们的口，实是个深坑；上主恼怒的，必坠入其中。 | 14The mouth of a strange woman is a deep pit: he whom the Lord is angry with, shall fall into it. |
| 15孩童心中藏愚昧，只有戒尺能驱逐。 | 15Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, and the rod of correction shall drive it away. |
| 16欺压穷人，是使他致富；餽赠富者，是使他贫穷。 | 16He that oppresseth the poor, to increase his own riches, shall himself give to one that is richer, and shall be in need. |
| 17你应当倾听智者的训言，应专心致意领会我的知识。 | 17Incline thy ear, and hear the words of the wise: and apply thy heart to my doctrine: |
| 18你若细心存想，常在口中诵念，必会令你喜悦。 | 18Which shall be beautiful for thee, if thou keep it in thy bowels, and it shall flow in thy lips: |
| 19为使你的信赖全托于上主，我今日特将道路指示给你。 | 19That thy trust may be in the Lord, wherefore I have also shewn it to thee this day. |
| 20关于教诲和知识，我岂未多次写过， | 20Behold I have described it to thee three manner of ways, in thoughts and knowledge: |
| 21使你认识真言实理，答复前来问你的人？ | 21That I might shew thee the certainty, and the words of truth, to answer out of these to them that sent thee. |
| 22你不可因为人穷而剥削穷人，亦不可在城门口欺压弱小者； | 22Do no violence to the poor, because he is poor: and do not oppress the needy in the gate: |
| 23因为他们的案件，上主必予以辩护；凡剥夺他们的人，上主必讨其生命。 | 23Because the Lord will judge his cause, and will afflict them that have afflicted his soul. |
| 24易怒的人，不可与他交结，暴躁的人，不要与他往来， | 24Be not a friend to an angry man, and do not walk with a furious man: |
| 25免得你沾染他的恶习，甘冒丧失性命的危险。 | 25Lest perhaps thou learn his ways, and take scandal to thy soul. |
| 26不要为别人击掌，不要为债务作保； | 26Be not with them that fasten down their hands, and that offer themselves sureties for debts: |
| 27免得你没有什么偿还时，连你的床榻也被人夺走。 | 27For if thou have not wherewith to restore, what cause is there, that he should take the covering from thy bed? |
| 28祖先立定的旧界，你不要加以移动。 | 28Pass not beyond the ancient bounds which thy fathers have set. |
| 29你曾见过办事能干的人吗？他必侍立在君王面前，决不侍立在佣人面前。 | 29Hast thou seen a man swift in his work? he shall stand before kings, and shall not be before those that are obscure. |
