| 1上主，天父，我生命的主宰！不要让我顺从任性的口舌，不要许我因口舌而跌倒。 | 1O Lord, father, and sovereign ruler of my life, leave me not to their counsel: nor suffer me to fall by them. |
| 2谁能督策我的思念，谁能在我心中给与智慧的训导，不宽容我的错误，不放过我的罪过， | 2Who will set scourges over my thoughts, and the discipline of wisdom over my heart, that they spare me not in their ignorances, and that their sins may not appear: |
| 3免得我更加愚昧，我的罪恶加多，罪过满盈，倒在我敌人跟前，为我的仇人所嬉笑呢？ | 3Lest my ignorance increase, and my offences be multiplied, and my sins abound, and I fall before my adversaries, and my enemy rejoice over me? |
| 4上主，天父，我生命的天主！不要把我丢弃，如他们所想望的。 | 4O Lord, father, and God of my life, leave me not to their devices. |
| 5不要使我眼目高傲，使我不要顺从情欲。 | 5Give me not haughtiness of my eyes, and turn away from me all coveting. |
| 6不要让肚腹的食欲和肉欲的烈火统治着我，也不要让我有一颗无耻愚昧的心。 | 6Take from me the greediness of the belly, and let not the lusts of the flesh take hold of me, and give me not over to a shameless and foolish mind. |
| 7孩子们，请听有关口舌的教导；谁遵守了，就不会成为口舌的囚犯，也不会陷在极凶恶的事中。 | 7Hear, O ye children, the discipline of the mouth: and he that will keep it shall not perish by his lips, nor be brought to fall into most wicked works. |
| 8罪人必因自己的唇舌，而陷入罗网；辱骂人的和骄傲人，必因自己的唇舌而跌倒。 | 8A sinner is caught in his own vanity, and the proud and the evil speakers shall fall thereby. |
| 9不要让你的口习惯起誓，因为如此反增加许多过失， | 9Let not thy mouth be accustomed to swearing: for in it there are many falls. |
| 10口里不要习惯称呼圣者的名字，也不要乱呼圣人的字，因为你若如此，就难免无罪。 | 10And let not the naming of God be usual in thy mouth, and meddle not with the names of saints, for thou shalt not escape free from them. |
| 11犹如一个不断受拷问的奴仆，免不了身受创伤；同样，经常发誓和乱呼圣者名字的人，也不能清白无罪。 | 11For as a slave daily put to the question, is never without a blue mark: so every one that sweareth, and nameth, shall not be wholly pure from sin. |
| 12时常起誓的人，必恶贯满盈，他的家庭必会遭殃。 | 12A man that sweareth much, shall be filled with iniquity, and a scourge shall not depart from his house. |
| 13他若违犯了，必然有罪；他若藐视誓愿，罪更加倍。 | 13And if he make it void, his sin shall be upon him: and if he dissemble it, he offendeth double: |
| 14他若发了虚誓，就不能称为义人；他的家庭也必备受惩罚。 | 14And if he swear in vain, he shall not be justified: for his house shall be filled with his punishment. |
| 15还有促人早死的话，希望这样的话，总不出现在雅各伯的家业中。 | 15There is also another speech opposite to death, let it not be found in the inheritance of Jacob. |
| 16虔敬的人，必远离这一切事；他们不会辗转在这些罪恶中。 | 16For from the merciful all these things shall be taken away, and they shall not wallow in sins. |
| 17不要习惯说粗鲁的话，因为其中总有有罪的话。 | 17Let not thy mouth be accustomed to indiscreet speech: for therein is the word of sin. |
| 18你坐在大人物中时，要记得你的父母， | 18Remember thy father and thy mother, for thou sittest is the midst of great men: |
| 19怕你在他们面前，忘了父母，以致因你的习惯，做出糊涂的事来，受到凌辱，遂诅咒你的生辰，深愿你没有生在世上。 | 19Lest God forget thee in their sight, and thou, by thy daily custom, be infatuated and suffer reproach: and wish that thou hadst not been born, and curse the day of thy nativity. |
| 20惯说责斥话的人，一生不能自律。 | 20The man that is accustomed to opprobrious words, will never be corrected all the days of his life. |
| 21有两种人，恶贯满盈，而第三种人，更招致义怒与丧亡。 | 21Two sorts of men multiply sins, and the third bringeth wrath and destruction. |
| 22炽烈的情欲，像燃起的火，不到烧完，决不熄灭。 | 22A hot soul is a burning fire, it will never be quenched, till it devour some thing. |
| 23作贱自己肉身的人，不到欲火焚尽，也决不停止。 | 23And a man that is wicked in the mouth of his flesh, will not leave off till he hath kindled a fire. |
| 24纵欲的人，一切食物都是香甜的，至死不厌。 | 24To a man that is a fornicator all bread is sweet, he will not be weary of sinning unto the end. |
| 25离开自己的床，去犯奸淫，轻贱自己的人，心里说：「谁能看见我？ | 25Every man that passeth beyond his own bed, despising his own soul, and saying: Who seeth me? |
| 26黑暗笼罩着我，墙壁遮蔽着我，没有人能看见我，我还怕什么？至高者决不会记念我的罪恶。」 | 26Darkness compasseth me about, and the walls cover me, and no man seeth me: whom do I fear? the most High will not remember my sins. |
| 27他不明白至高者的眼目，透视一切；怕人之情，驱散了他敬畏天主的心，使他只怕人的眼目。 | 27And he understandeth not that his eye seeth all things, for such a man's fear driveth from him the fear of God, and the eyes of men fearing him: |
| 28他不知道上主的眼目，比太阳还要光亮万倍。他还视人类的一切行径，透视深渊、人心和最隐密的幽处。 | 28And he knoweth not that the eyes of the Lord are far brighter than the sun, beholding round about all the ways of men, and the bottom of the deep, and looking into the hearts of men, into the most hidden parts. |
| 29万物在受造以前，上主天主就认识；完成之后，也是如此。 | 29For all things were known to the Lord God, before they were created: so also after they were perfected he beholdeth all things. |
| 30奸淫的人必在城市的街道上，受到惩罚；像马驹一般被人追击，在他不料想的地方被人捉住。 | 30This man shall be punished in the streets of the city, and he shall be chased as a colt: and where he suspected not, he shall be taken. |
| 31因为他不知敬畏上主，所以人人都以他为耻。 | 31And he shall be in disgrace with all men, because he understood not the fear of the Lord. |
| 32凡离弃丈夫，藉外人生了子嗣的女人，也是如此。 | 32So every woman also that leaveth her husband, and bringeth in an heir by another: |
| 33第一、因为她不忠于至高者的法律；第二、因为她得罪自己的丈夫；第三、因为他通奸犯淫，藉外人生了孩子。 | 33For first she hath been unfaithful to the law of the most High: and secondly, she hath offended against her husband: thirdly, she hath fornicated in adultery, and hath gotten her children of another man. |
| 34她要被拉到集会中，审问她关于子女的事。 | 34This woman shall be brought into the assembly, and inquisition shall be made of her children. |
| 35她的子女不会生根，她的枝叶也不会结果实。 | 35Her children shall not take root, and her branches shall bring forth no fruit. |
| 36她遗留下的记念是咒骂，她的耻辱不会抹去。 | 36She shall leave her memory to be cursed, and her infamy shall not be blotted out. |
| 37幸存的人，应该知道：没有什么比敬畏上主更美好，也没有什么比遵循上主的诫命更甘饴。 | 37And they that remain shall know. that there is nothing better than the fear of God: and that there is nothing sweeter than to have regard to the commandments of the Lord. |
| 38跟随上主是人的莫大光荣，人还可因此获享长寿。 | 38It is great glory to follow the Lord for length of days shall be received from him. |
