德训篇	Sirach
¹智慧之子，形成义人的集会；他们的家族充满服从与友爱。	¹The sons of wisdom are the church of the just: and their generation, obedience and love.
²孩子们，你们应听从我，你们的父亲；你们要这样作，以便得救。	²Children, hear the judgment of your father, and so do that you may be saved.
³因为，上主愿父亲受儿女的尊敬，且确定了母亲对子女的权利。	³For God hath made the father honourable to the children: and seeking the judgment of the mothers, hath confirmed it upon the children.
⁴孝敬父亲的人，必能补赎罪过；且能戒避罪恶，在祈祷之日，必蒙应允。	⁴He that loveth God, shall obtain pardon for his sins by prayer, and shall refrain himself from them, and shall be heard in the prayer of days.
⁵孝敬母亲的人，就如积蓄珍宝的人。	⁵And he that honoureth his mother is as one that layeth up a treasure.
⁶孝敬父亲的人，必在子女身上获得喜乐；当他祈祷时，必蒙应允。	⁶He that honoureth his father shall have joy in his own children, and in the day of his prayer he shall be heard.
⁷孝敬父亲的，必享长寿；听从上主的，必使母亲得到安慰。	⁷He that honoureth his father shall enjoy a long life: and he that obeyeth the father, shall be a comfort to his mother.
⁸敬畏上主的人，必孝敬父母；奉事生他的父母，犹如奉事主人。	⁸He that feareth the Lord, honoureth his parents, and will serve them as his masters that brought him into the world.
⁹你当以言以行，以各样的忍耐，孝敬你的父亲，	⁹Honour thy father, in work and word, and all patience,
¹⁰好使他的祝福，降到你身上，而存留至终。	¹⁰That a blessing may come upon thee from him, and his blessing may remain in the latter end.
¹¹因为父亲的祝福，巩固子女的家庭；反之，母亲的诅咒，拔除家庭的基础。	¹¹The father's blessing establisheth the houses of the children: but the mother's curse rooteth up the foundation.
¹²不要以你父亲的羞辱为荣，因为父亲的羞辱，为你不是光荣；	¹²Glory not in the dishonour of thy father: for his shame is no glory to thee.
¹³原来人的光荣，是建在他父亲的荣誉上；不名誉的母亲，是子女的耻辱。	¹³For the glory of a man is from the honour of his father, and a father without honour is the disgrace of the son.
¹⁴我儿，你父亲年老了，你当扶助；在他有生之日，不要使他忧伤。	¹⁴Son, support the old age of thy father, and grieve him not in his life;
¹⁵若他的智力衰弱了，你要对他有耐心，不要因你年富力强就藐视他；	¹⁵And if his understanding fail, have patience with him, and despise him not when thou art in thy strength: for the relieving of the father shall not be forgotten.
¹⁶因为，对父亲所施的怜悯，是不会被遗忘的，天主必要赦免你的罪过，复兴你的家庭。因你容忍母亲的过失，必获赏报；	¹⁶For good shall be repaid to thee for the sin of thy mother.
¹⁷天主必依公义，建立你的家庭；在你困难之日，要记念你，要消灭你的罪过，有如晴天溶化冰霜。	¹⁷And in justice thou shalt be built up, and in the day of affliction thou shalt be remembered: and thy sins shall melt away as the ice in the fair warm weather.
¹⁸背弃父亲的，形同亵圣；激怒母亲的，已为上主所诅咒。	¹⁸Of what an evil fame is he that forsaketh his father: and he is cursed of God that angereth his mother.
¹⁹我儿，执行你的工作时，应当谦和；这样，你会比施惠的人更受人爱戴。	¹⁹My son, do thy works in meekness, and thou shalt be beloved above the glory of men.
²⁰你越伟大，在一切事上越当谦下；这样，你才能在上主面前，获得恩宠。	²⁰The greater thou art, the more humble thyself in all things, and thou shalt find grace before God:
²¹因为，只有上主的权能是伟大的，为谦逊人所尊崇。	²¹For great is the power of God alone, and he is honoured by the humble.
²²为你太难的事，你不要寻找；超乎你能力的事，你不要研究；然而天主给你所规定的，你应时常思念，在他的许多工程上，你不应怀着好奇心去追究。	²²Seek not the things that are too high for thee, and search not into things above thy ability: but the things that God hath commanded thee, think on them always, and in many of his works be not curious.
²³因为，亲眼观察那些隐密的事，为你并不需要。	²³For it is not necessary for thee to see with thy eyes those things that are hid.
²⁴在超过你能力的事上，你不要劳神；在他的许多工程上，你不要怀着好奇的心；	²⁴In unnecessary matters be not over curious, and in many of his works thou shalt not be inquisitive.
²⁵因为，你已见到许多，人类不能理解的事；	²⁵For many things are shewn to thee above the understanding of men.
²⁶的确，有许多人受了自己妄想的欺骗，邪恶的幻想迷惑了他们的明悟。	²⁶And the suspicion of them hath deceived many, and hath detained their minds in vanity.
²⁷心里顽硬的人，终究必有不幸的结局；爱危险的，必死于危险之中。	²⁷A hard heart shall fear evil at the last: and he that loveth danger shall perish in it.
²⁸徘徊在两条路上的心，决不会成功；心术不正的人，必要绊倒。	²⁸A heart that goeth two ways shall not have success, and the perverse of heart shall be scandalized therein.
²⁹顽硬的心，必为愁苦所累；罪人必要罪上加罪。	²⁹A wicked heart shall be laden with sorrows, and the sinner will add sin to sin.
³⁰骄傲人们的创伤，无法医治，因为恶根在他们身上，已根深蒂固，而他们却不自觉。	³⁰The congregation of the proud shall not be healed: for the plant of wickedness shall take root in them, and it shall not be perceived.
³¹明智人的心，领会寓言；智慧人的心愿，是希求热心的听众。	³¹The heart of the wise is understood in wisdom, and a good ear will hear wisdom with all desire.
³²聪明睿智的心，必戒避罪恶；在正义的工作上，必获成功。	³²A wise heart, and which hath understanding, will abstain from sins, and in the works of justice shall have success.
³³水可以消灭烈火，施舍可以补赎罪过。	³³Water quencheth a flaming fire, and alms resisteth sins:
³⁴天主保佑施舍的人，此后必要记念他，在他跌倒时，要使他获得扶助。	³⁴And God provideth for him that sheweth favour: he remembereth him afterwards, and in the time of his fall he shall find a sure stay.
