德训篇	Sirach
¹不要因言语不慎，将友谊变成仇恨；因为，有恶名的人，必蒙羞受辱；一口两舌的罪人，也是如此。	¹Instead of a friend become not an enemy to thy neighbour: for an evil man shall inherit reproach and shame, so shall every sinner that is envious and double tongued.
²不要放纵你的情欲，免得你的情欲，因了糊涂，像牛犊一样，消耗你的气力；	²Extol not thyself in the thoughts of thy soul like a bull: lest thy strength be quashed by folly,
³吃尽你的叶子，摧残你的果实，抛弃你，如同一棵旷野里的枯树。	³And it eat up thy leaves, and destroy thy fruit: and thou be left as a dry tree in the wilderness.
⁴邪恶的情欲，要灭绝怀有情欲的人，使他成为仇人的话柄，使他的命运与不虔敬者相同。	⁴For a wicked soul shall destroy him that hath it, and maketh him to be a joy to his enemies, and shall lead him into the lot of the wicked.
⁵亲切温柔的言语，能使友人增多，并能感化仇人；同情的话，能使友好的往来敦厚。	⁵A sweet word multiplieth friends, and appeaseth enemies, and a gracious tongue in a good man aboundeth.
⁶与你要好的人应多，然而作你参谋的，只千中取一。	⁶Be in peace with many, but let one of a thousand be thy counsellor.
⁷如要交友，先要考验，不要立刻信任他。	⁷If thou wouldst get a friend, try him before thou takest him, and do not credit him easily.
⁸因为有的人，只是一时的朋友；在你困难的日子，就不见了。	⁸For there is a friend for his own occasion, and he will not abide in the day of thy trouble.
⁹有的朋友，一旦变成仇人，就把你争执的事和仇恨，泄漏出来，为凌辱你。	⁹And there is a friend that turneth to enmity; and there is a friend that will disclose hatred and strife and reproaches.
¹⁰有的人是酒肉朋友，在你困难的日子，就不见了。	¹⁰And there is a friend a companion at the table, and he will not abide in the day of distress.
¹¹你幸福的时候，他和你同心，对你的仆婢，也任意使唤；	¹¹A friend if he continue steadfast, shall be to thee as thyself, and shall act with confidence among them of thy household.
¹²若你遭了难，他就翻脸攻击你，回避你。但对于良好的友谊，你应恒一不变。	¹²If he humble himself before thee, and hide himself from thy face, thou shalt have unanimous friendship for good.
¹³你当远离你的仇人，慎重对待你的朋友。	¹³Separate thyself from thy enemies, and take heed of thy friends.
¹⁴忠实的朋友，是稳固的保障；谁寻得了他，就是寻得了宝藏。	¹⁴A faithful friend is a strong defence: and he that hath found him, hath found a treasure.
¹⁵忠实的朋友，是无价之宝，他的高贵无法衡量：金银也比不上他忠实的美好。	¹⁵Nothing can be compared to a faithful friend, and no weight of gold and silver is able to countervail the goodness of his fidelity.
¹⁶忠实的朋友，是生命和不死的妙药；惟有敬畏上主的人，才能寻得。	¹⁶A faithful friend is the medicine of life and immortality: and they that fear the Lord, shall find him.
¹⁷敬畏上主的人，才有真正的友谊，因为他怎样，他的朋友也怎样。	¹⁷He that feareth God, shall likewise have good friendship: because according to him shall his friend be.
¹⁸我儿，从你幼年时起，就应接受教训；如此，直到老年，必能寻得智慧。	¹⁸My son, from thy youth up receive instruction, and even to thy grey hairs thou shalt find wisdom.
¹⁹你要亲近她，就如耕田和播种的人，等待她的美果；	¹⁹Come to her as one that plougheth, and soweth, and wait for her good fruits:
²⁰因为，你用智慧去工作，用功不久，很快就可吃她的出产。	²⁰For in working about her thou shalt labour a little, and shalt quickly eat of her fruits.
²¹智慧为不肯受教的人，是酸苦的；愚昧的人，不会与智慧常久相处，	²¹How very unpleasant is wisdom to the unlearned, and the unwise will not continue with her.
²²因为，智慧有如放在愚昧人身上的重石，他决不会迟延抛弃她。	²²She shall be to them as a mighty stone of trial, and they will cast her from them before it be long.
²³原来智慧的含义，正如她的名字，明白的人不多。但认识她的人，她必与他相处，直到天主面前。	²³For the wisdom of doctrine is according to her name, and she is not manifest unto many, but with them to whom she is known, she continueth even to the sight of God.
²⁴我儿，你当听取和接受我的智谋，不要拒绝我的忠告。	²⁴Give ear, my son, and take wise counsel, and cast not away my advice.
²⁵把她的脚镣扣在你脚上，将她的枷锁套在你的颈上。	²⁵Put thy feet into her fetters, and thy neck into her chains:
²⁶要放低你的肩膀，肩起她来，不要因她的束缚而烦恼。	²⁶Bow down thy shoulder, and bear her, and be not grieved with her bands.
²⁷要全心亲近她，全力遵循她的道路。	²⁷Come to her with all thy mind, and keep her ways with all thy power.
²⁸要研究她，寻求她，她必把自己显示给你；你一得了她，总不要离弃她；	²⁸Search for her, and she shall be made known to thee, and when thou hast gotten her, let her not go:
²⁹因为，你终究要在她内寻着平安，她必变成你的喜乐。	²⁹For in the latter end thou shalt find rest in her, and she shall be turned to thy joy.
³⁰于是，她的脚镣，要成为你有力的护卫，坚固的基础；她的枷锁，要成为你光荣的服饰。	³⁰Then shall her fetters be a strong defence for thee, and a firm foundation, and her chain a robe of glory:
³¹她有黄金的美丽，她的束缚有如紫红的织品。在她内，有生命的美丽；她的桎梏是有益的束缚。	³¹For in her is the beauty of life, and her bands are a healthful binding.
³²你要穿上她，作你美丽的服装；戴上她，作你喜乐的冠冕。	³²Thou shalt put her on as a robe of glory, and thou shalt set her upon thee as a crown of joy.
³³我儿，你若愿意，就可受教；你若专心，就会明智。	³³My son, if thou wilt attend to me, thou shalt learn: and if thou wilt apply thy mind, thou shalt be wise.
³⁴你若爱听，就必得到智慧；你若侧耳静听，必成为智慧的人。	³⁴If thou wilt incline thy ear, thou shalt receive instruction: and if thou love to hear, thou shalt be wise.
³⁵你当常居于明智的长老之中，遇到有智慧的人，你应结识他。凡是天主的言语，你都要喜欢恭听；对明哲的格言，不要轻忽。	³⁵Stand in the multitude of ancients that are wise, and join thyself from thy heart to their wisdom, that thou mayst hear every discourse of God, and the sayings of praise may not escape thee.
³⁶假使你看见一个有智慧的人，你要及早前去拜访，你的脚要磨光他的门限。	³⁶And if thou see a man of understanding, go to him early in the morning, and let thy foot wear the steps of his doors.
³⁷你当默想上主的诫命，时常留心他的法令；如此，他必会坚固你的心，赐给你所希望的智慧。	³⁷Let thy thoughts be upon the precepts of God, and meditate continually on his commandments: and he will give thee a heart, and the desire of wisdom shall be given to thee.
