| 1达理阿王四年九月，即「基色娄」月四日，上主的话传给匝加利亚。 | 1And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of the Lord came to Zacharias, in the fourth day of the ninth month, which is Casleu. |
| 2由贝特耳派遣了君王的官员撒辣责尔和他的侍从去向上主请示， | 2When Sarasar, and Rogommelech, and the men that were with him, sent to the house of God, to entreat the face of the Lord: |
| 3去问万军上主殿里的司祭和先知们说：「我是否在五月里仍要哭泣和斋戒，像我多年以来所作的一样？」 | 3To speak to the priests of the house of the Lord of hosts, and to the prophets, saying: Must I weep in the fifth month, or must I sanctify myself as I have now done for many years? |
| 4那时万军上主的话传给我说： | 4And the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying: |
| 5「你向国内全体民众和司祭们说：你们在五月和七月斋戒哭泣，至今已七十年了，岂是为了我而斋戒吗？ | 5Speak to all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying: When you fasted, and mourned in the fifth and the seventh month for these seventy years: did you keep a fast unto me? |
| 6你们几时吃喝，岂不是为你们自己吃，为你们自己喝吗？ | 6And when you did eat and drink, did you not eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves? |
| 7难道你们不知道，当耶路撒冷还有人安居，她四周的城邑，南部和平原也有人居住时，上主藉先知们所宣布的训令吗？」 | 7Are not these the words which the Lord spoke by the hand of the former prophets, when Jerusalem as yet was inhabited, and was wealthy, both itself and the cities round about it, and there were inhabitants towards the south, and in the plain? |
| 8那时，上主有话传给匝加利亚说： | 8And the word of the Lord came to Zacharias, saying: |
| 9「万军的上主这样说：你们应照公正裁判，以仁义和友爱彼此相待； | 9Thus saith the Lord of hosts, saying: Judge ye true judgment, and shew ye mercy and compassion every man to his brother. |
| 10不可欺压寡妇和孤儿，外方人和贫穷人；不可心中图谋恶事陷害人。 | 10And oppress not the widow, and the fatherless, and the stranger, and the poor: and let not a man devise evil in his heart against his brother. |
| 11但是，他们不肯听从，硬着颈项，充耳不闻。 | 11But they would not hearken, and they turned away the shoulder to depart: and they stopped their ears, not to hear. |
| 12他们使自己的心硬如金刚石，不听从法律，和万军的上主以自己的神感动古先知们所发表的训令，为此万军的上主曾大发忿怒。 | 12And they made their heart as the adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the Lord of hosts sent in his spirit by the hand of the former prophets: so a great indignation came from the Lord of hosts. |
| 13那么，就如我呼唤时，他们不肯听；同样他们呼喊时，我也不肯听──万军的上主说── | 13And it came to pass that as he spoke, and they heard not: so shall they cry, and I will not hear, saith the Lord of hosts. |
| 14因此，我把他们驱散到他们所不认识的各民族中，以致在他们去后，国土荒废，无人往来；他们竟使美好的土地变成了一片荒野。」 | 14And I dispersed them throughout all kingdoms, which they know not: and the land was left desolate behind them, so that no man passed through or returned: and they changed the delightful land into a wilderness. |
